2025 Stanley Cup Winner Odds (Updated 6/16/2025)

Can Draisaitl and company win with their backs against the wall?

Last year, the Florida Panthers outlasted the Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup for the first time, only after the Oilers defied the odds and history by forcing a Game 7 after trailing 3-0 in the series.

Speaking of odds, the two teams are facing off for the hallowed hardware once again. After a 5-2 Game 5 win in Edmonton, the Panthers could clinch consecutive Cups at home Tuesday night (8:00 p.m. ET, TNT/truTV). How do Stanley Cup winner odds shake out at top online sportsbooks heading into Game 6? Find out below.

As the National Hockey League (NHL) is one of the “Big Four” of North American professional sports along with the National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), and Major League Baseball (MLB), betting on Stanley Cup Finals odds is popular every year.

The Stanley Cup itself is one of the most famous trophies in sports, if not the most famous. Watching the trophy being awarded and lifted is always an exciting moment, especially for those who have seen their Stanley Cup winner futures bets come out victorious.

As with the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, World Series, and other championship events, the best online sportsbooks all have some kind of Stanley Cup odds. That can include series winner odds, odds for every game of the series, and even cross-sport odds because the Stanley Cup Finals and NBA Finals typically take place at the same time.

Each of the three sports betting sites listed above is a great option for betting on the NHL playoffs and the Stanley Cup Finals. They offer competitive odds, a variety of markets, and great sportsbook bonuses and promotions for new and existing players.

Who Are the Favorites to Win This Year’s Stanley Cup Finals?

Edmonton Oilers

After coming up just short of a historic comeback in last season’s Stanley Cup Finals, the Oilers topped preseason title odds and have remained at or near the top for most of the season, even though they finished the regular season as only the sixth seed in the Western Conference.

That was below expectations, but they did have a 7-3-0 finish to the regular season, and they have shined under the bright playoff lights. They stumbled right out of the gate, falling behind 2-0 against the Los Angeles Kings in the first round, but they are 12-2 since, going 6-1 both at home and on the road.

Will this be Connor McDavid’s crowning moment?

After scoring 42 points in 25 playoff games last season, he became just the seventh player to win the Conn Smythe Trophy despite being on the losing end in the Stanley Cup Finals and the first since former Anaheim Ducks goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere in 2003.

McDavid’s production in this year’s playoffs (1.63 points per game) is just a bit short of last year’s (1.68 points per game), but he will be eager to face the Panthers again after tasting disappointment at the final hurdle last year.

Will home ice advantage play a role in the outcome of the series? The Panthers benefitted from playing Game 7 at home last year, but if the series goes the distance this time around, the Oilers will host the decider because they had three more points in the regular season than the Panthers.

Florida Panthers

Since the Stanley Cup Finals became the NHL’s championship series in 1927, there have been 17 instances of a team winning two or more titles in a row, most recently the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2019 and 2020.

Can the Panthers become the 18th? They, like the Oilers, have been a fixture atop this season’s Stanley Cup odds, even though they also did not as one of the top seeds.

But after entering the playoffs as the #5 seed in the Eastern Conference, they have looked every bit like a championship team in dispatching the Lightning, Maple Leafs, and Hurricanes to book a return trip to the Stanley Cup Finals.

It is worth noting that the last two times there has been a repeat matchup, the team who lost the previous year won the rematch. After losing to the Detroit Red Wings in 2008, the Pittsburgh Penguins got their revenge in 2009. In the prior rematch, the Oilers defeated the New York Islanders to win their first title in 1984 after being swept by the Isles in 1983.

Where will the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals be played?

The two participating teams will host all games of the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals.

As with the other series in the NHL playoffs, the Stanley Cup Finals take place in a 2-2-1-1-1 format. The team that had more points in the regular season will have home ice advantage and host Games 1, 2, 5, and 7, while the lower-seeded team will host Games 3, 4, and 6.

What does this mean for the matchup between the Panthers and Oilers? Edmonton is the #6 seed in the Western Conference but had 101 points in the regular season, while the Panthers, the #5 seed in the Eastern Conference, had 98 points. Therefore, the Oilers will host Games 1, 2, 5, and 7 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, while the Panthers will host Games 3, 4, and 6 at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida.

Who will play in the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals?

After meeting in the Stanley Cup Finals in 2024, the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers will meet face off again in the NHL’s title series this year. It is the first repeat matchup in the Stanley Cup Finals since the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings met for the championship in 2008 and 2009.
