Are you unfamiliar with any of these sites? Our sportsbook reviews cover the major factors that many sports bettors take into consideration when choosing a sportsbook.

Types of Odds for This Week’s NFL Games

If you like to bet on NFL games, there are many types of NFL game odds that you can find at most good sports betting sites.

However, the three main types of NFL odds are moneyline odds, point spread odds, and total odds (which are also known as over/under odds). These are the only types of odds that you will find on this page and our other odds pages.

NFL Point Spread Odds

Betting on point spreads is one of the two main ways to bet on the outcome of National Football League games.

If you are betting on the spread, you are betting on either the spread favorite to win by a certain amount, or you are betting on the spread underdog to either win outright or lose by fewer than a certain number of points.

Most NFL spreads are single digits, but double-digit spreads are seen on a regular basis.

This example of NFL spread odds uses the opening spread for Super Bowl 58 between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.

  • San Francisco 49ers -2.5 (-110)
  • Kansas City Chiefs +2.5 (-110)

The 49ers were favored, which means that they needed to win by three or more points to cover the spread. On the other side, the Chiefs needed to win outright or lose by one or two points to cover. The Chiefs won the game in overtime, which means they covered the +2.5.

NFL Moneyline Odds

Moneyline betting is the other main way to bet on the outcome of NFL games.

With moneyline odds, you are betting on one team to win the game outright. So, as long as that team wins the game, whether by one point or 21 points, that is all that matters.

This example of NFL moneyline odds uses the opening moneyline odds for Super Bowl 58.

  • San Francisco 49ers -130
  • Kansas City Chiefs +110

This means that for a $100 moneyline bet on the Chiefs, who won the game, would have paid out $110 in winnings.

NFL Total (Over/Under) Odds

Total odds, also known as over/under odds, are the third main way to bet on NFL games.

While betting on moneyline and spread odds involve needing a particular outcome in some way, over/under bets require a certain number of points to be scored or not be scored, regardless of who wins or by how much.

This example of NFL over/under odds uses odds from BetOnline for the 2025 regular season opener between the Cowboys and Eagles:

  • Over 47 (-110)
  • Under 47 (-110)

If the Cowboys and Eagles combine for 47 or more points, over bets will win. If they combine for 46 or fewer points, under bets will win. A final combined score totaling 47 would result in a push for both sides.

Other Types of NFL Odds

Point spread, moneyline, and total odds are what you will find on this page, but there are other types of NFL odds that you can bet on.

NFL Prop Odds

There are a wide variety of NFL props available for every game. Many NFL props are player props, but there are also team and game prop odds.

A lot of NFL player prop odds are over/under odds, like passing yards props.

This example of NFL prop odds uses odds from Bovada for Patrick Mahomes’ passing yards prop for Super Bowl 58.

  • Patrick Mahomes over 261.5 passing yards (-115)
  • Patrick Mahomes under 261.5 passing yards (-115)

In Kansas City’s victory, Mahomes had 333 passing yards. Therefore, those who bet on over 261.5 passing yards won their bets.

NFL Futures Odds

In addition to the types of NFL game odds, you can bet on NFL futures odds at most reputable U.S. sportsbooks. Some examples of NFL futures are Super Bowl winner odds, NFL MVP odds, and NFL coach firing and hiring odds.

This example of NFL futures features Super Bowl 59 futures odds from BetOnline.

  • Kansas City Chiefs +475
  • San Francisco 49ers +600
  • Baltimore Ravens +1000
  • Detroit Lions +1100
  • Buffalo Bills +1400
  • Cincinnati Bengals +1400
  • Green Bay Packers +1400
  • Houston Texans +1400
  • Philadelphia Eagles +1400
  • Dallas Cowboys +1800

It is important to remember that only one team can win the Super Bowl. In this instance and most other instances with futures bets, your chances of success are low relative to betting on other types of NFL odds.

Comparing NFL Odds

Using this page, you can compare NFL game odds from multiple sportsbooks.

Why is comparing odds useful? If you are looking for the best possible value for a betting line, you can find it by comparing odds. Comparing odds from different sportsbooks to find the best value is known as line shopping.

For many people who like to bet on sports, finding the best value is one of the most important factors when placing bets, whether those bets are on the NFL, the NBA, MLB, or another sport, league, or event.

With that in mind, this page and our other betting odds pages are designed to help you do that while saving valuable time.

Instead of having to go from sportsbook to sportsbook individually, the point spread, moneyline, or total odds you are looking for are available in one place.

When comparing NFL odds, you will often find similarities between different online sportsbooks. However, one sportsbook may offer markedly better odds than others. If you can find those edges on a regular basis, a seemingly small difference on the surface can prove to be significant over time.

What Factors Can Affect NFL Odds?

There are numerous factors that can affect NFL odds. Below are a couple of the most notable factors.

Public Betting Trends

If most of the bets are coming in one side, sportsbooks may shift the odds to attract action on the other side. This is called line movement, and it is something that smart bettors should always keep track of.

If most of the bets are coming in one side of a betting line, that means that the NFL betting public is heavily on that side. Many bettors, including professional bettors, use that information to bet the opposite way.

Player Injuries & Suspensions

Injury concerns—or suspensions—can also affect NFL odds.

If, for example, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is listed as questionable for the Bills’ upcoming game, the odds may reflect that status. With a healthy Allen, the Bills might be a big favorite. With Allen’s availability uncertain, Buffalo still may be favored but not by a wide margin.

But if it is confirmed later in the week that Allen will be able to play, the odds may move significantly to account for his availability and Buffalo’s increased chances of victory.

NFL Odds FAQ

How are NFL odds determined?
Many factors go into determining NFL odds. Some of those factors include the matchup and the current form of the two teams, the location of the game, weather conditions, and injuries and suspensions.
How do NFL spreads work?
If you are betting on NFL spread odds, you are betting on the favorite to win by at least a certain amount or the underdog to win outright or lose by less than a certain amount. For example, if the Chiefs are favored by 3.5 points against the Bengals, the Chiefs would need to win by four or more points to cover the spread.
How do you bet on NFL over/under odds?
Total bets, also known as over/under bets, are on the listed total to either be exceeded (over) or not be exceeded (under). If a sportsbook lists a total of 47.5 points, that means that the two teams must combine for 48 or more points for over bets to win and 47 or fewer points for under bets to win.
What is the moneyline in NFL betting?
Moneylines are odds on which team will win. If you make a moneyline bet on the Chiefs, that bet will win if Kansas City wins by any margin.
