Where to Bet on MLB Odds Today
Baseball is one of the most popular sports in the U.S. and one of the most popular sports to bet on. While all of the best U.S. sportsbooks have many MLB betting markets, available markets may vary. Some sites have more markets for MLB games, while others offer more prop bets or futures bets.
Below are the sites we recommend the most for MLB betting.

Types of MLB Odds
On this page, you will find MLB moneyline odds, MLB run line odds, and MLB over/under odds. However, there are several different types of MLB odds that you can bet on at online sportsbooks.
Moneyline & Run Line Odds
Moneyline and point spread odds are known as sides. In baseball, the point spread is known as the run line.
Sides directly involve the outcome of a game, though there is a major difference between betting on moneylines and run line betting.
With the moneyline, you bet on a team to win. With the run line, you bet on the favorite to win by at least a certain number of runs or for the underdog to either win outright or not lose by more than a certain number of runs.
Unlike point spreads for football and basketball, which can wildly vary, most MLB run line odds are -1.5/+1.5. That is also the case with betting on NHL puck lines.
Total (a.k.a. Over/Under) Odds
While sides directly involve the outcome of a matchup, total betting, also known as over/under betting, does not.
When it comes to betting on MLB totals, the only thing that matters is the combined number of runs by the two teams. For over bets to win, the two teams must combine for more runs than the listed total. For under bets to win, the two teams must combine for fewer runs than the listed total.
So, what would this mean for a matchup between the Red Sox and Yankees in which the total is 8.5? If the two teams score nine or more total runs, over 8.5 bets win. If they score eight or fewer runs, under bets win.
Other Types of MLB Odds
Some of the other types of MLB markets include props and futures bets.
Odds for MLB prop bets include player prop odds (such as MLB strikeout props), game props, and team props. Some MLB futures include World Series winner odds, division winner odds, and Cy Young Award odds.
Comparing MLB Odds
Why is comparing MLB odds useful? By comparing odds, you can find the best betting value for a particular line. In sports betting, comparing odds from different sportsbooks is known as line shopping.
This page can be especially useful for line shopping. Instead of having to go from sportsbook to sportsbook individually, you will find what you need on one page.
Being able to find the best value for a bet can significantly bolster your bankroll. If you find those edges regularly, it can really add up over the course of many bets.
What Factors Can Affect MLB Odds?
Many factors can affect MLB odds. As with other team sports, injuries and suspensions can play a key role.
Weather conditions can play a role as well. For example, if the wind is blowing out, a high-scoring game could be in store. As a result, the listed total may be higher.
Pitching matchups can affect odds more than any single non-injury/suspension factor in any of the major sports.
Why? Even the worst MLB teams will beat the best MLB teams regularly. This is in part because some of the league’s best pitchers play for some of the league’s worst teams, and top teams don’t necessarily have rotations full of Cy Young contenders.
So, even if a top team is facing a cellar dweller, the odds may not reflect it as much as in other sports due to the pitching matchup.
