For the second time in two weeks, the Seattle Storm and Washington Mystics will face off. The last time these two teams played, the Mystics won the game by 5 points. The Storm are coming off a big 38-point win over Chicago on Thursday night.
Seattle is 15-10 this season and are 3rd in the Western Conference. As just mentioned, they come into this game off a monster win. The Storm are 6-4 in their last 10 games and are 7-5 on the road. They have their wins split between home and road, so they can play anywhere.
Sky Diggins is having herself a year. She’s coming off a 21-point, 7 rebound game. The kid is averaging 18 points and 6 assists per game, leading the team in both categories. Nneka Ogwumike has been playing her part, averaging 17 points and 7 rebounds per game. Gabby Williams and Erica Wheeler have been rounding out this offense.
The Storm play good defense. They’re third in the league for defensive rating, second in steals and turn the ball over the least. Protecting the ball is key but so is getting the ball and this team is not good at rebounding.

Mystics will try to snap 2-game losing streak tonight in DC

Mystics guard Brittney Sykes high fives forwards Shakira Austin and Kiki Iriafen after a timeout is called.
Washington is 11-12 so far and are 4th in the Eastern Conference. They come into this game on a two-game losing streak that they’ll be looking to snap. The Mystics are 6-4 in their last ten games and are 7-4 at home this season.
They’ve been an interesting team to follow so far this Mystics team. You have Brittney Sykes, who is the somewhat leader, is averaging 17 points per game. Their rookie pair of Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron has been the difference maker for this squad. They only got better when Shakira Austin returned from injury.
Iriafen has been having herself a rookie season. She’s averaging 12 points and 8 rebounds per game. Citron is also killing it with an average of 14 points and 5 rebounds per game.
Defense is lacking on this team as they rank 8th in defensive rating. They’re also 3rd to last in the league for turnovers per game, so something to watch. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Storm vs. Mystics picks.

I have to go with the Mystics here. They played a good game last game but let it slip away on them. This could be a correction spot for the Storm as well after that blowout win, so I think we see a close game.
The line was set at 5 because that was the result of last game’s final score. I’m not sure if Washington can win this one like last time, but they should definitely stay in this game. I think we see the lead go back and forth throughout the game and come down to the end.
I like for Kiki Iriafen to get 8 or more rebounds. She had 10 boards last game, and we’ll see the same matchups again. Kiki also had 10 points for a double double last game, so something to think about sprinkling. Her PR is also a solid look if you want a double option.
I also like Brittney Sykes to get 15 or more points. She’s hit the mark in the game earlier vs. the Storm as well as her last four out of five games. If you go back in her history, she has hit this mark in her last four out of five games in Seattle as well.
