We have the New York Liberty hosting a back-to-back tonight vs. the Los Angeles Sparks. Both teams are on major winning streak, so we should have a good one in store. The last time these two teams played, the Liberty won by 10 points a few weeks ago.
New York is 17-6 and first in the Eastern Conference. They come into this game off a win last night over the Mercury, extending their win streak to 5 games. The Liberty are 7-3 in their last 10 games and 12-2 at home this season.
Last night the team welcomed back Jonquel Jones for her second game back from injury. She had a monster game with a 20-point, 11 rebound double double last night. Jones almost had a double double in her first game back with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Safe to say it – she’s backkkkk.
Sabrina Ionescu is coming off a big game as well. She put up 29 points with 8 assists and 5 rebounds. Ionescu has battled a neck injury this season but looks back to form after last night’s game. Natasha Cloud has also been a great addition to this team as they try to win back-to-back championships.

Los Angeles will try to make it five in a row vs tough New York team

Sparks guards Kelsey Plum and Rickea Jackson embrace after a big shot from Plum.
The Sparks are 10-14 this season and 6th in the West. They come into this game on a four-game winning streak including winning their last two on the road. Los Angeles is 6-4 in their last ten games and 7-6 on the road this season.
This team is proving to play really good on the road with 70% of their wins coming on the road. The Barclays Center will be a tough place to play, and the Liberty are the best team they’ve played during this four-game winning streak.
LA can play when they’re clicking. They rank third in points per game and second in pace. The Sparks also have the second-best shooting percentage and three-point shooting percentage in the league. It’s on the other side of the ball that they have all their problems.
Defensively, they just kind of stink. LA ranks eleventh in defensive rating, turnovers and rebounding. Not protecting the ball is the obvious killer, but they need to clean the glass better. Rebounding is of course a core part of this game and their bigs need to step up.
Let’s check out the odds and get into the Sparks vs. Liberty picks.

Did I surprise you? It’s hard to go against a really good road team who has been winning. They also covered this last game a few weeks ago, but I’m sure that’s where this line comes from anyways.
The Sparks are putting up 90 points a game their last 4 games, with putting up 100 in their last game. New York plays good defense, but the Sparks are on one right now. Their 7 road wins also shows they can play in other arenas just fine. Now I don’t think they win this game, but the 10 points is a little much for a team playing this well.
I like for Natasha Cloud to get 10+ points for -102. She has hit the mark in her last three games and her last seven out of eight games. Cloud has also hit the mark in her last five games vs the Sparks, so I like the data here. She just had a decent game last night as well.
The other play I like is Jonquel Jones to record 23+ points and rebounds combined for -118. She has cleared the mark in her last two games and in her last two out of three games vs the Sparks. I love the way she’s playing since returning, so we’re going with the hot hand.
