Washington is 2-2 over their 1st 4 games of the season. They are definitely surprising the league with how they’re playing. The Mystics beat the Dream and Sun back-to-back and only loss to the Aces by 3 points. This team can definitely contend.

Guard Brittney Sykes has been leading the way. She sat out last game with an ankle injury but has been off and running this season. She’s averaging 26.3 ppg so far and coming off a 30-point performance vs the Valkyries. This chick has come to play this year, and I think going to be a great player to bet on as she is running the offense.

The Mystics also did well in the offseason with their draft picks. Both Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen are having great starts to their careers. They have also definitely found their place on this team as starters. Citron is averaging 15.8 ppg and Iriafen has had double doubles in her last 3 games straight.

Phoenix looks to get back in win column without Copper

Phoenix is off to a decent start considering they are missing their best player in Kahleigh Copper. Copper is out with a knee injury is expected to miss another 4-5 weeks. She is the point guard for this team and hasn’t even had a chance to play with her new teammates.

In the offseason, the Mercury secured forward Satou Sabally from Dallas and Aylssa Thomas from Connecticut. Sabally wasted no time getting comfortable and has been leading this team. She started the season with a 27-point performance and followed it up with a 25-point game right after. She came back down-to-earth last game vs Seattle.

Thomas has done her part from all around as usual. The 33-year-old forward is definitely not exactly the same player as she was now in her 11th season. It’ll be interesting to see what role she takes on when Copper returns as Copper and Sabally will run the offense.

I’ll be honest, I’m not 100% sure who wins this game. One thing I feel good about though, is that we see a close game. Both teams have some nice pieces to it, and neither is that much better than the other.

Give me the Mystics to keep it close and cover the 5 points even without Sykes. Citron and Iriafen should be able to keep this team in the game like they did vs the Aces. I expect Iriafen to have another double double, priced at -115. The team will need her to keep controlling down low to keep them in it.

I also like Cintron to record 14 or more points for -110. She’s hit her line in 3 out of her 4 games, including a 19-point game last game vs the Aces. She shot 6 of 11 from the field, including 4 for 6 from behind the arc.

If you don’t like the double double look from Iriafen, you can take her points and rebounds at 23 or more for -125. She has hit the line in 2 out of her last 3 games. In the 2 games that she hit the number, she had 30 or more PR.
