An Eastern Conference matchup we all love. The Washington Mystics will take on the New York Liberty at the Barclays Center. Last time these two teams met was back in June and the Liberty won by eight points.

New York is 23-15 this season and have slipped to 5th in the league. They come into this game of a two-point win over the terrible Connecticut Sun. The Liberty are 5-5 in their last 10 games and are 15-5 at home this season.

Breanna Stewart just returned to the lineup last game after missing a month with a knee injury. She had 19 points and 5 rebounds in her return vs. the Sun. Jonquel Jones and Sabrina Ionescu both had great all-around games as well.

This Liberty defense isn’t as good as their offense, but struggles. They rank fifth in defensive rating and fourth in steals. New York on offense is in the top five in the league in every major category.

Washington looks to break a four-game losing streak vs. New York

The Mystics are 16-22 and on the brink of being eliminated from playoff contention. They come into this game on a four-game losing streak after a loss to the Storm on Sunday. Washington is 3-7 in their last ten games and 6-12 on the road this season.

Trading away Brittney Sykes didn’t help this team at all and it looks like they’re going to miss the playoffs. The team has a bright future with rookies Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron with Shakira Austin to bring some veteran leadership.

This will be a tough game for them as they are completely out matched vs. New York. Iriafen is going to have to deal with both Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones down low. Citron will also have Ionescu guarding her and that’s going to be trouble.

I do think the Liberty win this game tomorrow, but there is one thing I’ve been from them and that’s having trouble covering big spreads. They only beat the Sun by a basket and that was a large spread as well.

This New York offense is going to be too much for the Mystics to get a win. Ionescu, Stewart and Jones will be the keys as usual. I think Iriafen, Citron and Austin can cook enough to keep this close as the Liberty have been struggling as of late.

Expect Iriafen and Citron to help keep this game close. She hit her points line last game and had 9 rebounds. She rebound line is high at 11, but you can buy it down as well. Citron is a good look for rebounds as she’s hit in her last two game vs the Liberty.

On the other side of things, I love Breanna Stewart for only 15 or more points for -114. She’s coming off a 19-point game and had 26 in her last game vs the Mystics. We should take advantage of her low points line while we can before it returns to nearly 20. I also like her 5 or more rebounds for -146. She’s hit 80% in her last 10 and hits 92% of the time vs Washington.
