We had an exciting game 1 between the Phoenix Mercury and the Minnesota Lynx. The Lynx took the game by a final score of 82-69 and have 1-0 series lead. It was a crazy first half followed by a ghostly second half from one team.
Phoenix had a great first half. The scored 47 points and had a 7-point lead heading into halftime. They looked great on both sides of the ball and then the second half came. The Mercury only scored 22 points in the entire half leading to the loss.
Alyssa Thomas played well with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Kahleah Copper led the way with 22 points and Satou Sabally only had 10 points and 6 rebounds. DeWanna Bonner played 24 minutes off the bench and went 0/4 but grabbed 9 rebounds.
Like I said, they just disappeared in the second half. The Lynx wouldn’t give them an inch and frustrated the Mercury. Phoenix was out rebounded down low and also shot 13% from three-point range. Two more contributing factors.

Minnesota wants to replicate play from Sunday and take 2-0 lead

Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas looks to pass around Lynx forward Napheesa Collier.
The Lynx played a great game all around. They were right in it at half being down by only seven points and then kicked it into gear in the second half. It shows how dangerous this team is on both ends of the ball.
Minnesota led the league in both offensive and defensive ratings this season, so no surprise on how they played. I really thought game 1 was going to come down to the wire, but the Lynx held the Mercury off the rest of the time to a comfortable win.
Napheesa Collier had 18 points and 9 rebounds. Her back court went off with Courtney Williams having 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists while Kayle McBride had 21 points, 6 rebounds and went 4/9 from three-point range.
The Mercury have to be pissed they let game 1 slip away. Minnesota is the best home team in the league, so it won’t be easy to get one. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Mercury vs. Lynx picks.

I’m taking the same play here. The Mercury showed they can contend with this team all first half. Now they just need to figure out how to finish the game. Even if they don’t get the win, this game should stay close until the end so give us the 7.5 points.
Phoenix looked great in the first half, and they’ll be watching hours or tape to see what happened going into the second half. I think we see the same pesky group with a little more composure this game to possibly get the win. Minnesota we cannot forget was behind going into halftime.
We’re doing a rinse and repeat here. Give me DeWanna Bonner for 5 or more rebounds for -136. We’re totally paying the juice man here as this play hit in the first half last game. She ended the game with 9 rebounds and had 8 each in the two games prior.
The next play I like is Kayla McBride to get 3 or more three points for +116. She nailed four last game and has hit in two out of her last three games. McBride is a shooter so the volume will be there and she’s had 17+ points in each of her last three games.
