There’s nothing better than competitive games and that’s what we got in game one. The Phoenix Mercury lost to the Las Vegas Aces in a tough fought game by a score of 89-86. There was a fundamental not done that cost the Mercury the game.
It’s always been said and is still true today and that’s, “hit your free throws”. Alyssa Thomas was fouled in the last minute of the game where she missed both free throws that would’ve given the Mercury the lead. The team played a great game which is ultimately useless since they lost.
Thomas player her normal game and was an assist shy of a triple double. Kahleah Copper had 21 points, and Satou Sabally had 19 points. The big three for Phoenix showed out and came through in their biggest game ever.
DeWanna Bonner added 10 points and 8 rebounds off the bench. She has been a huge piece of the Mercury’s success during this playoff run. Bonner has guard capabilities but is almost making up for the team’s lack of a center.

Aces look to defend home court and take a 2-0 series lead

Aces guard Dana Evans reacts to nailing a three pointer after a timeout is called.
Las Vegas looked good in game one. Both teams matched up very evenly on a lot of stats, but the Aces protected the ball better. They turned the ball over half as many as the Mercury and had ten more points off turnovers.
A’ja Wilson led the way with 21 points and 10 rebounds, but there was a very unlikely hero for the Aces. Guard Dana Evans had 21 points off the bench, including five threes. Jewell Loyd put 18 points and Chelsea Gray flirted with a triple double.
It’s going to take a lot of the same from game one for the Aces to take the 2-0 lead. Phoenix is relentless on defense, but Las Vegas has the offense to counter. The books had the first game extremely close and we’re definitely going to see it again.
Home court is huge and especially in the playoffs. Las Vegas could take all momentum with a win tonight. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Mercury vs. Aces picks.

Give me the away team and the points. I think we see the Mercury come out and go sicko mode in game two. They know how important it is to grab a game on the road and going down 2-0 are.
Expect them to play really tight defense this game. It’s their best way to win the game if they can slow the Aces down, or really A’ja Wilson. In the end, there was an unlikely hero that lifted the Aces or game one was Phoenix’s.
I like for Satou Sabally to get 18 or more points for -118. She’s cleared the line in her last four games and is just on fire right now. Sabally is the season scoring leader for the Mercury and should ball out as she chases her first chip.
The other play I’m going back to is A’ja for 26 or more points at +104. She missed last game, but I think we see a monster game from to try and get the 2-0 series lead. Laddering her to 30+ points for +275 will also be sprinkled.
