WNBA: Lynx vs. Sun Picks and Odds | August 30, 2025

Natisha Hiedeman

Two completely opposite teams tonight where one has everything to lose, and the other has nothing. The Minnesota Lynx will take on the Connecticut Sun at the Mohegan Sun Arena. These two teams last met in June, and the Lynx handed the Sun a 39-point loss.

Minnesota is 30-8 this season and the best team in the league. They come into this game off a bad, 14-point loss to the Storm on Thursday. The Lynx are 7-3 in their last ten games and are 12-6 on the road.

MVP candidate Napheesa Collier is the like a fine wine – she just keeps getting better with every day that passes. She is currently averaging 23.6 points per game, which just leads the league, and 7.6 rebounds per game.

Picking up DiJonai Carrington a few weeks back is going to pay off for a playoff run. She brings a playoff background and can start or play off the bench. Between her, Courtney Williams and Kayla McBride – this team has some serious depth.

Connecticut has a tough task with nothing to play for

Haley Peters and Napheesa Collier

Sun forward Haley Peters defends against Lynx forward Napheesa Collier.

The Sun are 10-28 this year and are already eliminated from playoff contention. They come into this game off a nice win over the Wings on Wednesday. Connecticut is 5-5 in their last ten games and 6-12 at home this season.

There has been much to celebrate on this team. Tina Charles has been leading the way all year. She is averaging 16.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Marina Mabrey has been a contributor as well, but the rest of the team just gets by.

Connecticut dismantled this team in the off season and are in a rebuild. They lost DeWanna Bonner, Alyssa Thomas, Brionna Jones and tonight’s opponent DiJonai Carrington. Rookies Aneesha Morrow and Saniya Rivers give the team some hope for the future.

It’s going to be quite some time before this team contends again, but that’s how it goes sometimes. For now, they’ll look to play spoiler in these last games of the season. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Lynx vs. Sun picks.

Well, I know it’s a lot of points and we haven’t been very successful with the last large spreads we’ve taken BUT we’re doing it again! This is a perfect spot for the Lynx to bounce back after they let last game get away from them.

Minnesota is just such a better team and needs to get back to winning ways. Getting a game like this is almost like a gift on Christmas to get one back. The Lynx should feast on the Sun, just like last game.

I think Napheesa Collier will have a dominant game. We’ll be taking her for 23 or more points for -125. She has cleared the line in her last five games straight vs. the Sun. Collier is also coming off a miss in her last game, which I also like for the bounce back.

The other play I like is Kayla McBride to get 14 or more points for -128. There is still value here and she is playing well, hitting in her last three out of four games. She also cleared the line in her last two games vs. them while the Sun also are third to last defending the guard position.
