The New York Liberty head to Indiana to take on the Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This will be the 1st time these 2 teams meet this season, and it should be a great game. The defending champs will look to stay undefeated today in Indy.

New York is 2-0 to start the year. They have looked great so far, handling business with no problems. The Liberty are picking up where they left off from last season, averaging the most point per game and having the best shooting percentage.

All the ladies are stepping up to start. Newly acquired Natasha Cloud is making her presence felt. In just 2 games she’s averaging 20 ppg, 8.5 apg and 5 rpg. These are crazy numbers considering she is now playing alongside players like Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu.

Stewie looks good with 18.5 ppg and 5 rpg so far. The one year removed MVP is still one of the leaders of the team and the best players in the league. Jonquel Jones, the final MVP, is doing her job with 14 ppg and 8.5 rpg. The Liberty beat the Aces to start the season and then beat the brakes off the Sky, so this will be their 2nd real test.

Indiana will try to win their 2nd game in a row vs tough Liberty team

Indiana has started out 2-1 so far. They just split a home and home with the Atlanta Dream. Both games were hard fought and close games. The Fever came out on top last game by a score of 81-76.

In their 2nd game vs the Dream, the game was much more physical. It led to foul trouble for a lot of players. Aliyah Boston got into it early though and it affected her all game. She finished the game with just 4 points and 7 rebounds.

Natasha Howard stepped up big with a 26-point, 7 rebound performance. Her best game since coming to the Fever, but also it was in just 3 games. Caitlin Clark did her normal thing and contributed all over. One thing she did not do was hit a 3 pointer, going 0 for 5.

This will be the toughest test for the new look Fever. DeWanna Bonner has still been nowhere to found so they need to figure something out there as she could be a huge contributor. Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

Going with the road team here. I think this is going to be a close game because Indiana can definitely contend, but I think the Liberty will pull it off in the end. The spread is close for a reason, which if anything just helps.

The Liberty are obviously one of, if not the, best team in the league. It’s going to be a lot for the Fever to handle. Jonquel Jones will matchup against Natasha Howard and Breanna Stewart probably with DeWanna Bonner. All familiar with each other and should be a dog fight. Sabrina and Caitlin will go at it in the back court as well.

In the end, the personnel on the Liberty is where the edge comes in. I think they’re more talented and will find a way to cover. Give me Jonquel Jones to record 14 or more points for -102. She’s just coming a miss, and I think this is a good game for her to grub down low. She seems to thrive against good competition.

The other play I like is Caitlin Clark for 4 or more 3 pointers for -108. She’s coming off a game where she completely missed and didn’t make 1. The Liberty are a big 3-point shooting team as well, so I expect the Fever to be throwing em up as well.
