We have one team headed to the playoffs and another who is barely hanging on. The Indiana Fever will take on the Phoenix Mercury at the PHX Arena. These two teams last met about a month ago and the Mercury won by 35 points.

Phoenix is 25-14 this season and just clinched their playoff spot with a win over the Liberty on Saturday night. That win was their fourth in a row and they’re on a heater. The Mercury are 7-3 in their last ten games and 14-6 at home this year.

This team kicked it into high gear once Alyssa Thomas woke up and started playing nuclear. She is averaging 15.8 points, 9.2 assists and 8.9 rebounds per game. Thomas has made a serious MVP bid but will probably lose out to Napheesa Collier or A’ja Wilson.

The Mercury has a great cast from Thomas to Satou Sabally and Kahleah Copper. Thomas and Sabally are first year players for Phoenix whose impact has been tremendous. They’ll look to fight off the Fever tonight.

Indiana needs to get a win after slipping down the standings

The Fever are 21-19 this year and have just slipped to the eighth seed in the league. They have a two-game lead over the Sparks for the last spot and are only a half game out of the sixth or seventh seed.

Indiana comes into this game off a loss to the Valkyries on Sunday. They’re currently 4-6 in their last 10 games and are 10-10 on the road this season. This game is key for the Fever because this is only one of four games they have left, and the rest of the other teams have one to two games in hand.

The injury to Caitlin Clark has really caused an issue. Indiana was hanging in around the fifth and sixth seed but have slipped as of recently. There has been no word on Clark’s return, although it makes you wonder if it’s getting to a point where they bring her back.

This is going to be a tough game for the Fever. The talent and power of Thomas and Sabally can be a lot to handle while there are still players like Whitcomb and Copper to guard. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Fever vs. Mercury picks.

I think this is going to be all Phoenix. They play well at home, and this will also give them another game closer to the third seed as well as gain more on the fifth seed. I think with all the implications for both teams, we see both teams playing hard.

In the end, I think the Mercury take this game. I do also think they can cover the seven points against a hurting Indy team that is getting worse by the day. This is a great spot for the Mercury to get that extra game and also push the Fever to the brink.

I like for Alyssa Thomas to get 14 or more points for -132. She has great history vs. the Fever, hitting in her last three games and that includes this year. Thomas is also coming off back-to-back games clearing the number as well as 70% over her last ten games.

The next play is kind of sneaky. We’re taking Lexie Hull for 4 or more rebounds for -188. If you can find her for 5 or more, you’ll probably get around -120 odds. But her 6 or more is +265, so we’re laddering up. Hull has hit the 5 or more in her last three and last seven out of ten games. In two games year vs, Phoenix, she recorded six in one game and five in the other.
