We have the top team in the East taking on almost the worst team in the East. The Atlanta Dream will face the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena. These two teams haven’t met in almost three months, but the Sun took last game by eight points.
Atlanta is 25-14 so far and third in the league currently. They have clinched their playoff spot and come into this game off a win over the Wings on Friday. The Dream are 7-3 in their last ten games and 12-8 on the road this season.
Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard have led the way for the Dream. Newcomers Brionna Jones and Brittney Griner have made major impacts on the team. Although she’s battled injury, Jordin Canada rounds out a nice starting five.
The race is still tight between seeds two through five, only being separated by two games. It’s pedal to the metal for this Atlanta team as they’re having one of their best seasons. Expect them to come out firing against a weak Connecticut team.

Season’s over for Connecticut so it’s all for pride

Sun forward Tina Charles points to her teammate for a great assist after making a basket.
Connecticut is 10-29 this season and eliminated from the playoffs. They come into this game off a loss to the Lynx on Saturday. The Sun are 5-5 in their last ten games and 6-13 at home this year.
Tina Charles has led this team this season. She’s averaged 16 points and 6 rebounds per game. Marina Mabrey was the next biggest help, averaging 15 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds per game. The rest of this team is young and needs work.
The team has two promising rookies that can hopefully become big parts of this team next season. Aneesah Morrow averaged 7.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in 36 games. Saniya Rivers averaged 8.3 points per game in 37 games. Both have the potential to be really good players.
It’s not really hard to see how this game is going to go. Can the Sun cover the big spread? Let’s check out the odds and get into the Dream vs. Sun picks.

Atlanta destroyed the Sun very early in the year and I think we see a beat down here. Connecticut plays well at home and that’s the only thing really in their favor. I think the Dream are going to be too much for them though and cruise to a win.
I think the Dream are on a mission at this point. They’re out playing the defending champs and want to keep it that way. This should be nothing more than a layup for them to add another one to the win column.
Give me Brionna Jones to get 13 or more points for -114. She has been hot lately, clearing the line in her last three games. She hasn’t hit vs. the Sun this year, but I think with the way she’s playing that she hits the line vs. her former team.
I also like Marina Mabrey to record 2 or more three pointers for -166. I know it’s juicy, but it’s been hitting. Last four straight games and last four games vs. the Dream. Mabrey puts up the volume, so I’ll be taking her to get two.
