Hate to say it, but battle of the bottom feeders tonight. We have the Atlanta Dream taking on the Los Angeles Sparks Crypto.com Arena. These 2 teams faced off back in June and the Dream won by 13 points.

Atlanta has a lot to play for right now. They are only 1 game behind the Chicago Sky for the last place in the playoffs. Unfortunately, the Dream are on a 4-game skid, or they could be in the playoffs right now because the Sky are playing just as poorly – losing their last 5 straight.

The Dream are 10-21 and sit in the 5th spot in the East. As I mentioned, they’re sitting 9th overall and just 1 spot out of a playoff spot. They’re not the greatest on the road, going 4-11 so far this year and are also 3-7 in their last 10 games.

If Atlanta can get it together and play like we know they can, this can easily be a win for them, and it is much needed. If they don’t win soon, it’s going to make every game that much harder to shake the monkey of their back.

Los Angeles may already be in taking mode. After losing rookie Cameron Brink. the team never really rebounded. Dearica Hamby have been the main source of offense but needs more help.

The Sparks are 7-24, last in the West and last in the league. Currently, they’re coming off a surprising win over the Liberty Wednesday night. Otherwise, they’re 2-8 in their last 10 games and 1-6 since returning from the Olympics break.

Hamby has been helped by the Sparks other rookie, Rickea Jackson. It has been good for her to get the time she has under her belt and to carry into next year. The team did land Odyssey Sims before the break, who can be a nice piece for next year.

This is a huge game for the Dream because it’s a game they can and should win. We’re not even going to get cute and take the spread with the way they’ve been playing. The value isn’t too bad for the moneyline to cover our butts.

I expect the Dream to continue to shoot the ball. Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray have been unloading from behind the arch, so I expect them to continue that. If either gets hot, they’re good for 4 of 5 threes. They’re going to need to hit their shots to build a lead.

Atlanta is the better team and mainly on defense. They rank 6th in the league for defensive rating vs the Sparks ranking 10th. Otherwise, they just need to shoot well and get open looks.

I expect Jordin Canada to get 6+ assists for the Dream, helping to move that ball around and create opportunities for Howard and Gray. Tina Charles missed last game but would be a huge loss to not have her, so we’ll have to keep our eyes out.

Expect Gray and Howard to hit 2+ three pointers each and parlayed should be around even money. I like this play a lot because both have hit in their last 5 games straight. Howard has hit in her last 7 straight.
