WNBA: Aces vs. Mercury Picks and Odds, August 15, 2025

We got a good one on our hands. The Las Vegas Aces head south in the desert to take on the Phoenix Mercury. Last time these two teams met it came down to the wire with the Aces pulling out a three point win.

Phoenix is 19-12 this season and 4th in the league. They come into this game off a loss to the Dream on Sunday. The Mercury are 4-6 in their last ten games and are 11-5 at home this year.

Last game was a decent test for the Mercury and they failed. Tonight will be another test against a red hot Aces team who we know can be dangerous. Las Vegas is right behind Phoenix in the standings, so this could have tie breaker implications down the road.

Alyssa Thomas has been playing fantastic lately. She’s averaging 16 points, 9 assists and 9 rebounds per game this year. If she can end the year averaging a triple double, I wonder if she gets the MVP over Collier. Time will tell.

Aces look to make it six in a row tonight in Phoenix

Las Vegas is 19-14 this year and now 5th in the league. They had a rough start, but have made a turn around and come into this game on a five game winning streak. The Aces are 7-3 in their last ten games and 8-9 on the road.

A’ja Wilson is having herself a year once again. She’s averaging 22 points and just about 10 rebounds per game. Wilson is coming off three games with 27 or more points. She is also coming off a 32 point, 20 rebound performance. Her 30 point, 20 rebound was the first time ever in league history by a player.

The Aces offense hasn’t been the most spectacular this season, ranking toward the bottom of the league for things like points and rebounds per game. They’re second to last in assists per game and only the seventh best offensive rating. Makes you realize they’re finding ways to win now.

A player to watch has been Jewell Loyd. The star that came over from the Storm in the Kelsey Plum trade struggled hard to the point that she was demoted and lost her starting position. She has really found her rhythm coming off the bench and could be an X factor in this game if she’s have an on night.

After coming off another win, I really like the Aces. They looked great against the Liberty on Wednesday night, winning by 6 points. A’ja had another great game with 17 points and 16 rebounds. She had 36 rebounds in two games if you can wrap your head around that.

The Aces will need everyone to come and play like Wednesday night. Jewell Loyd’s 21 point game was a huge reason Las Vegas won that game. Their defense needs to show up again with all that rebounding and stocks (blocks and steals).

Hard for me to not roll with Wilson’s boards for 12 or more at +110. She has 58 rebounds in her last three games and had 18 rebounds in her last game vs Phoenix. Girl is playing out of her mind and making a bid for MVP with no Collier or Clark playing.

Coming off a big game, I like Jewell Loyd to keep it going and hit 3 or more three pointers for +164. The volume is there every game with how much she shoots and she’s hit the mark in four of her last five games. She has been playing much better off the bench and I like for her to have a solid game.
