For the third time this season, the Seattle Storm and the Las Vegas Aces will play. They split the first two games with a win each, although the Storm won their game by much more. The biggest question mark for this game will be the status of A’ja Wilson, who is currently questionable for tonight.
Seattle is 7-5 this season and third in the Western Conference. They come into this game off a dominating win over the Sparks on Tuesday night. The Storm are 6-4 in their last 10 games and 3-3 on the road this season. This will be their first game at Michelob ULTRA Arena this season.
The Storm parted ways with guard Jewell Loyd in the offseason via trade. They will face their former franchise player again tonight and hope to continue to contain her like the last two meetings. This team is now led by Skylar Diggins and Nneka Ogwumike, who have a solid cast along with them in Gabby Williams and Ezi Magbegor.
It will be interesting to see if Wilson plays or not. The Storm rank in the bottom of the league for rebounds, so that could make a difference for them. No Wilson will also force the Aces to keep moving the ball around to different players, which sometimes can be a challenge.

Can the Aces get another win without Wilson if sidelined?

Aces forward A’ja Wilson and guard Chelsea Gray react after Jewell Loyd hits a bucket.
The Aces are 5-6 this season and fifth in the West. They come into this game off a 14-point loss to the Lynx on Tuesday night. Las Vegas is 5-5 in their last 10 games and are 3-2 at home this year.
This team has been without their star and leader A’ja Wilson for the last three games due to concussion protocol. She banged heads with former teammate Dearica Hamby in a game vs. the Sparks on June 11. Wilson is still listed as questionable for this game.
In her absence, players like Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray have had to step up. They’re 1-2 without Wilson so far and hope to have her back tonight. Young and Gray have been holding it down, but it’s not been enough to get the Ws.
Jewell Loyd will have all eyes on her again as she plays her former team for the third time since leaving. Loyd has been having a very underwhelming season, but has had double-digit points in all three games without Wilson. She’ll definitely be looked upon to shoot the ball tonight.

I’m going to back the Aces at home here, especially for plus money. I think Wilson is going to start which will then move this line to the Aces as the favorites, so give us that plus money. Loyd also has a chance to show out in front of her new home crowd vs. her former team.
Loyd is due for a big game vs. the Storm at this rate. After two mediocre games and the possibility of missing your leader, there is no better time for her to step up. She was a 20+ point per game player when she played for Seattle, so she has it in her.
I’m taking a chance here, but I think they can compete even if Wilson sits with the Loyd narrative. On that note, give me Jewell to hit two or more three pointers for -144 and three or more for +220. I will probably sprinkle the 5+ at +580 just because! She’s had four, three, and five in her last three games and had eight attempts in each game.
The books are valuing her off her current play and not the player she is. We’re going to back her to the moon tonight and I don’t think much changes for Loyd’s chances whether Wilson plays or not because she’s going to shoot.
