Connecticut will play its first game back since the All-Star break and are playing a hot team. The Los Angeles Sparks will continue their road trip tonight against the Connecticut Sun. Their last matchup was a showdown and the Sparks won by four points in a high-scoring game 10 days ago.
Los Angeles is 9-14 this season and sixth in the Western Conference. They come into this game off a big win over the Mystics on Tuesday, making it three wins in a row. The Sparks are 5-5 in their last 10 games and 6-6 on the road this season. They’re a good road team with two thirds of their wins coming on the road.
In their three wins, the Sparks have scored 90+ points in each game. Out of the three games, the closet margin of victory was vs. the Sun. With all this happening, it makes the over a really good look, but we’ll get into that.
Kelsey Plum and Dearica Hamby have been leading the squad. Hamby is coming off a 24-point, 14-rebound performance. Hamby had 17 and seven in the last matchup and I expect her to play a big role again. Her stock is going to skyrocket when Cameron Brink returns.

Connecticut looks to break 3-game skid since the break

Sun guard Marina Mabrey defends against Sparks guard Rickea Jackson.
The Sun are 3-19 this year and are sixth in the Eastern Conference. They come into this game trying to break a three-game losing streak. Connecticut is 1-9 in their last 10 games and 2-8 at home this season.
It’s been a bad situation this season for Connecticut after their core players left this offseason. They rank last in almost every major statistical category this season. Tina Charles has led the way, averaging 16 points and 6 rebounds per game.
From their record to their stats, just Charles is not working out. Marina Mabrey has been the No. 2 on the team, but like Charles, can only do so much with what they have. Watch for rookie Aneesha Morrow to keep getting playing time and develop in her rookie season.
For whatever reason, this team was able to compete last game vs. the Sparks, so you can’t count them out. LA is playing really good right now though and I don’t think the Sun are going to give them a hard time. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Sparks vs. Sun picks.

With the way the Sparks are playing, I have to go with them. They have been putting the ball in the basket big time these three games and they’re playing the worst defense in the league. If they can play some defense, they should win this game by 10 points.
Tina Charles is going to have to deal with Dearica Hamby and Azura Stevens. She’s going to need to rely on her teammates because she’s probably going to be double teamed a lot. I could see a lot of bad, forced shots from the Sun in these spots.
I like for Dearica Hamby to have another big game. Give me her 24 or more points and rebounds combined for -130. She hit this last game vs. them and is coming off a monster performance, I think we see the momentum continue. Charles won’t be able to defend against her and Stevens, so there will be plenty of opportunities.
The other play I like is Rickea Jackson to get 14 or more points for -130. She has been on fire with 20+ in her last two games and clearing this line in her last five straight. To go along with that, she has also cleared the line in her last four games vs. the Sun.
