For the second time this week, the Atlanta Dream and the Washington Mystics will battle it out. This time we’re headed to Atlanta to Gateway Center Arena. The Dream just blew the brakes off of the Mystics this past Sunday, so Washington should be looking for revenge.
Atlanta is 8-4 this season and second in this Eastern Conference. They come into this game off a loss Tuesday night to the Liberty, but are 7-3 in their last 10 games. The Dream are comfy at home with a 4-1 record to start the season as well.
Guards Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray have been leading this team so far. Gray went off for 32 points last game vs. the Mystics, but has been a little inconsistent, so we’ll keep an eye on her. She is still averaging 20 points per game and Howard is averaging 17 points per game.
Down low, Brionna Jones and Brittney Griner were off to hot starts but have since cooled off. Jones started off as a double-double machine and is averaging 13 points and 8 rebounds per game while Griner is averaging 10 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Atlanta will need them to take on and contain the Mystics Kiki Iriafen again.

Washington will look to win 2 in a row in revenge spot

Mystics guard Brittney Sykes goes up for a layup against the Dream.
The Mystics are 5-7 so far and fourth in the Eastern Conference. They come into this game off a win over the Sky on Tuesday night. Washington is 3-7 in their last 10 games after a decent start and are only 2-4 on the road.
Brittney Sykes had started hot out the gate, putting up 20+ point performances. She still leads the team in scoring and averaging 20 points per game, but has become very inconsistent over her last four games. Her shooting is really the key point here as well as the rest of the team.
Washington has two great rookies in Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron, but them and Sykes need to shoot better. They were completely blown out by the Dream last game because they couldn’t make a shot for anything. The team shot 29% from the field, going 18-of-61, which is just pathetic.
They will look to shoot better this game and get a second win in a row. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Mystics vs. Dream picks.

I think we see a much different game here. Two key points are what defined last game and that is the poor shooting from Washington and Allisha Gray’s 30-point game. I don’t think we see either of these things tonight, which is why I’m taking the points with the Mystics.
This should be a much closer game. It is completely obvious why the Mystics lost the last game, and you know they’re going to sharpen up. Another road win under their belt would be huge for their confidence as well. With Iriafen, Sykes, and Citron – they have every chance to win this game as well, if you’re feeling spicy.
Washington should also clamp down on Gray, who can also be very inconsistent from the field. She had a great game, but we don’t see that every game. Expect the adjustments to come from the Mystics to keep her in check and them in the game.
I like Sonia Citron to record 13 or more points for even money. She only had 10 points last matchup, but had 19 in their first meeting. Citron has hit the line in 60% of her last 10 games and has had a minimum of 10 points in every game of her last 20 games. We need four more points over that 10 and with a better shooting night, we should get there.
