Today wraps up Matchday Four in the UEFA Champions League, meaning the League Phase portion of the UCL will be halfway over following today’s contests.. The table is starting to take shape, and we as fans can get a feel for who might be advancing into the next round. Let’s take a quick look at the table before diving into our favorite UCL picks for Wednesday’s matches.

UEFA Champions League: Wednesday’s Predictions November 5
First, a look at the UCL table. Through four games, we have just two teams that remain undefeated. Bayern Munich and Arsenal are both 4-0-0 with 12 points and a +11 goal differential, but Munich have the edge with 14 goals scored. However, Inter Milan has the opportunity to join them with a win today. PSG, Real Madrid and Liverpool are right behind them with three wins and a loss, but Borussia Dortmund or Manchester City could jump those teams with three points today as they face each other in the Etihad.
And of course, who is at the bottom? Benfica and Ajax Amsterdam bring up the rear, both sitting at 0-0-3 with a chance to turn things around today. Along with those two, there are a total of 10 teams who have not yet won a UCL match, most notably Villarreal and Bayer Leverkusen. Can they change that on the road today?

Two of the worst teams in the UCL go head to head and I will be backing the visitors to at least earn a point. Benfica has been terrible all year long, and I don’t see it getting any better today. They have four straight shutouts in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and in the Taca de Portugal, but they’ve been shutout the past two times they played a top opponent.
Benfica lost their UCL opener at home to FK Qarabag 3-2, after leading 2-0 just 16 minutes into the match. They followed it up with a 1-0 loss at Chelsea, and a 3-0 loss against Newcastle. Now, Bayer Leverkusen will be without Robert Andrich who drew a red card against PSG in their last Champions League contest. But I simply don’t have enough faith in this Benfica offense, who have not netted a goal in their last 250 minutes of UCL competition.
All we need is the Germans to earn a point on the road, and this would be a great time for their first Champions League win.

Manchester City vs. Borussia Dortmund UCL Picks

There are plenty of ways you can back the hosts today at the Etihad, but I’ll take them to win by two. Manchester City have found their stride, winning five straight at home and going unbeaten in 11 of their last 12 matches. City have allowed just two goals in their last six overall, and just two in those five straight home victories as well. They are in fantastic form and it’s not stopping at home.
Dortmund’s backline has been questionable all year long, especially against top competition. They allowed four goals to Juventus on the road to start their Champions League campaign, and were completely dominated by Bayern Munich when they faced them away from home. Dortmund have been falling further and further from the top of European soccer after losing in the UCL Final to Real Madrid in 2024. They managed to produce just one shot on target on the road against Munich, and lost a two goal lead in stoppage time against Juventus.
Today they are in for a rude awakening against Manchester City at the Etihad.
Prediction: Manchester City Wins 3-0 (+900)
