Back the Under with me today. These two squads have two of the best back lines in all of Europe. Inter Milan have allowed just 11 goals across 14 UEFA Champions League matches, and a wide majority of those came from Barcelona in the Semifinals. As for Paris Saint-Germain, they are also allowing less than one goal per match, allowing just 15 in their 16 matches.
While PSG is a team known for their ferocious attack, I think Inter Milan comes prepared to slow them down and control the pace of this contest. I expect both clubs to play very conservative, given this is a Cup Final, trying to limit their own mistakes and take advantage of those of their opponent.
Ultimately, history is on our side with this one as well. Someone has been shutout in six consecutive UCL Finals, as well as the under 2.5 hitting in all six. With so much on the line, teams play slower, they are extra cautious, and Inter especially is fine with winning this thing late, in extra time, or even on PKs.
Look for the Italians to control the possession, therefore setting the pace of the match. They’ll force PSG to chase the ball as long as possible, wearing down their legs so they have no energy for the offensive attack. I heavily lean with Inter Milan in this match as well, so I endorse Inter Milan to Lift the Trophy at +137 as well.
While the ML would be a fun sweat, I do see this game extending into extra time and quite possibly a PK shootout to settle the score. Either way, I think we see a very low scoring 90 minutes, and perhaps even a scoreless draw before it’s all said and done.
