We had a huge MLS slate yesterday, but today we have a solo, stand alone match as the Portland Timbers find themselves in Missouri, taking on St. Louis City SC. These teams met about a month ago in Portland, where the Timbers pulled off the home victory with a stoppage time winner to come out on top, 2-1. Will St. Louis get their revenge this evening at home?

St. Louis City SC vs. Portland Timbers MLS Betting Odds

João Klauss has seven goals for St. Louis City this MLS season
St. Louis is near the bottom of the Western Conference standings while Portland is No. 4, but City does have revenge on their side. After losing just over a month ago to this club on a last second goal, they’ll be looking to come out strong and earn some points tonight at home.
They’ve lost three straight matches, four of their last five, and haven’t won since prior to playing Portland the first time. However, they are a favorite in this matchup for some reason. Portland is coming off a home win, but have been shutout in their last three MLS matches on the road, including losing three of their last four away from home as well.
Tonight could be anyone’s ball game, so let’s get in to our best bets for the match.

Moneyline
- St. Louis City +113
- Draw +293
- Portland Timbers +220
Total
- Over 3.5 (+130)
- Under 3.5 (-160)
To be quite honest with you, this match has draw written all over it. I have also taken a peek at Portland Double Chance, but -145 is a little too pricey for me on the road, and would rather lean the draw no bet route at +135.
In my mind, Portland is the much stronger team, and although both have been skidding, I am stumped at trying to figure out why St. Louis City is favored in this match. Regardless, St. Louis will need to focus on defense, as they were just minutes away from earning a draw the last time these teams played.
St. Louis City SC vs. Portland Timbers MLS Picks

Antony has six goals and eight assists for Portland this season
Best Bet: Under 3.25 (-118) BetOnline
Bringing back the Asian handicap tonight, remember, this splits our unit into two wagers. We have a half unit each on Under 3 and Under 3.5, both priced at (-118). Two goals or less, we win both bets, three total goals, we win and push, four or more, we walk away losers.
For starters, these teams only combined for three goals in their last match, with the third coming in stoppage time. Both keepers had phenomenal games, as the teams combined for 15 shots on target, with 12 total saves between the goalies. Now, St. Louis City SC does not score very often. They are only netting a goal per match, and allowing closer to 1.62.
They know their focus will need to be on the defensive side of things if they want a shot at winning this contest. The Timbers are allowing just 1.4 goals per match while scoring 1.5, but they will want to do anything to stay up in the standings.
Portland is tied with Seattle ranking No. 4 on the Western Conference table, tied at 33 points a piece. Both are just one point ahead of LAFC, with multiple other clubs within striking distance. Points are crucial. The last thing Portland wants to do is leave this city without a single point.
If holding on for a draw means being a little less aggressive, I see the Timbers doing just that in order to earn something for the standings. Give me a low scoring, defensive match.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw (+650)
