Anders Dreyer and San Diego FC are one win away from the MLS Cup Final

This will be the third meeting between these clubs. Throughout the season, both teams have scored 70+ goals while allowing less than 45. Their offenses are incredible, and the backlines are just as good. Back in June, Vancouver hosted San Diego where we saw an eight goal thriller. There were four in the each half, but slightly more towards the visitors, as San Diego FC won 5-3. About a month later in July, Vancouver traveled to Snapdragon Stadium where we saw a 1-1 draw.

However, Vancouver did not score from the field. They needed an own goal to put something on the scoreboard as they were dominated on the stat sheet. But since then, the Whitecaps have made some personnel changes. Signing German legend Thomas Müller has been huge for the club. He has eight goals and an assist in just 10 appearances so far. And I trust he will help guide them tonight on the road.

Back in the Conference Semifinals, when I wrote about the Whitecaps taking on LAFC, I believe I said something along the lines of “whoever wins this match, will win the MLS Cup”. Well, that is still how I feel. Vancouver came out on the top, and I see them lifting the trophy, assuming the league doesn’t gift it to their new golden boy in Miami.

Regardless, I see Vancouver finally getting the best of San Diego in this third meeting.

Best Bet: Vancouver Whitecaps to Advance (+105) BetOnline

This is the same as the Whitecaps to Qualify as well. They can win in 90 minutes, win in extra time, or win in a shootout. As long as they move on to play for the MLS Cup, we cash our wager. Both Brian White and Sebastian Berhalter missed the first match at home when the Whitecaps lost, but they were a part of the draw on the road. Add in Müller to the mix and you’ve got tons of fire power up top.

The Whitecaps had the best defense in the Western Conference this MLS regular season, and were second overall in the league. I see that coming into play in this contest, as they will likely have to defend plenty of attacks from the hosts. However, even missing Tristan Blackmon, they have the players to step up when it matters.

Give me the visitors to go on the road and upset the top team in the conference.

Prediction: Vancouver Whitecaps Win 2-1 (+1000)
