As I said, Newcastle United have been meh all year long. They’ve played Aston Villa, AFC Bournemouth, and Leeds United to scoreless draws, all away from home. They had a valiant comeback against Liverpool with only 10 men on the pitch, reducing a two goal lead to tie things up, before allowing a 90’+10′ goal to lose at home to the defending EPL Champions. Newcastle United beat the Wolverhampton Wanderers when they came to town (big deal), but could not hang with Barcelona, losing 2-1 during their UEFA Champions League contest.
As for Arsenal, they are who we thought they were. Against bad teams, they dominate, beating Leeds United 5-0 and Nottingham Forest 3-0 at home. They opened up the season beating Manchester United 1-0 on the road, but lost to Liverpool at home by the same score on an 83′ minute free kick. Most recently in the EPL, Arsenal battled back when they hosted Manchester City, earning a point in stoppage time thanks to Gabriel Martinelli.

The Magpies’ offense has not been clicking this year. They have only netted three goals in five matches, allowing that many as well, all coming against Liverpool. Newcastle United has shutout all four of their other EPL foes, but I certainly don’t see them doing that against Arsenal. The Gunners’ attack has been red hot, and I think they will have enough firepower to get the job done on the road.
Now, this won’t come easy, considering Newcastle has only allowed their opponent to score in one of their five EPL contests, but it was to Liverpool (another EPL Title contender) at St. James’ Park, which gives me a little hope that Arsenal breaks through as well.

Look, Arsenal have three wins this season, but just one point in two matches against some of the top clubs in the EPL. They were unable to produce much against Liverpool at Anfield, and dug themselves an early hole last week, eventually battling for an equalizer against Manchester City at home.
The Gunners know they can not afford to drop anymore points, especially against teams who will end up outside of the top six in the league. Even being on the road, these are the matches where leagues are won. Earning three points every chance they get is of the utmost importance to Arteta and the Gunners, and I know he will have them focused.
Sure, the Gunners do have a UEFA Champions League match on Tuesday, but Olympiacos is coming to town, which shouldn’t be that big of an issue. Plus, during the entire month of October, Arsenal only has one away match, playing Fulham during the middle of the month. This the perfect setting for them to buckle down and get three points before there’s too much space between the Gunners and Liverpool on the EPL table.
