The MLS, who normally saves all their matches for the evening, has blessed us with not only a 13 match slate, but also three stand alone contests to get us going early. Action on the pitch begins at noon eastern at Yankee Stadium between New York City FC and Charlotte FC. After that, we head to Philly (technically, Chester) where the Union host the New England Revolution, and then Atlanta United hosts the top team in the West, San Diego FC, for some early evening soccer. Following those three contests, Major League Soccer has 10 more matches throughout the night to keep us entertained. That’s a lot going on, so let’s decipher the board and find our best MLS picks.
We’ve had some success in this league so far this season, so let’s keep it going today!

Major League Soccer: Saturday’s Predictions September 20
Atlanta United vs. San Diego FC: MLS Picks

Anders Dreyer leads San Diego with 14 goals and 17 assists, starting all 30 matches
Best Bet: San Diego FC ML (+144) BetOnline
This is too good of a price to pass up. It might be a trap. I’ve fallen for similar before. But guess what? I love the cheese too much to let it go. This line makes very little sense, as San Diego FC is the top team in the Western Conference, while Atlanta is two points above last place in the Eastern Conference.
The hosts have scored just 36 goals in 29 matches while conceding 54. That’s good for a -18 goal differential, fourth worst in the entire league. San Diego FC have a +18 goal differential, netting 55 and allowing just 37 in 30 matches. With only four remaining, and Minnesota United hot on their tail, I do not see the visitors letting any points slip away against a MUCH inferior opponent.
San Diego are coming off a home loss to Minnesota, letting them get closer in the standings. However they have won seven straight matches in the MLS on the road and eight of their last nine as well. All they need to do is handle business and I’m willing to take +144 to find out.
Prediction: San Diego FC Wins 3-1 (+1600)
CF Montreal vs. New York Red Bulls: MLS Picks

Emil Forsberg has 10 goals and nine assists, starting in 29/30 matches this year
Best Bets: CF Montreal/New York Red Bulls Under 2.5 (+115) Bovada
The hosts are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and might as well mail it in for the final four matches. But New York has plenty to play for. The Red Bulls sit two points behind the Chicago Fire for the final MLS playoff spot, but the team from the Windy City has an extra match to play. This means New York cannot waste any points, and against a team like Montreal, they should be gunning for three.
But Montreal will certainly try to play spoiler. While they’ve netted less than a goal per match this season, the back line has not allowed more than two goals since they faced Miami in early July. I expect them to bring their best, limiting the Red Bulls’ scoring chances and trying to at least spoil someone else’s season late in the year.
Prediction: New York Red Bulls Win 1-0 (+825)
Sporting KC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps : MLS Picks

Brian White has 14 goals in 19 matches for Vancouver but has been sidelined with an injury
Best Bet: Vancouver Whitecaps ML (+108) BetOnline
Much like San Diego, for plus money I’m backing the much better team. Vancouver has beat Sporting KC in their last three head to head matches, winning 3-0 at home earlier this season. The Canadien side only has six contests remaining, and sit No. 3 on the Western Conference table. They are four points out of first place and two out of second with two matches in hand over San Diego and Minnesota. Plus they have a five point lead over LAFC, with the Seattle Sounders two points behind them.
Vancouver will not let this one slip away. They are coming off two straight wins and directly off a 7-0 shutout over the Philadelphia Union who are the best team in the league via points. Thomas Müller has appeared in just three matches since making the move to Vancouver, and he’s already netted four goals and added an assist. This team is not the kind to leave points on the board, especially late in the season.
Sporting KC have lost two straight outright, and have only won once in front of their home crowd in their past six matches at Children’s Mercy Park. This team would need a miracle to make the MLS playoffs, and their pride and motivation have been missing for a while.
Prediction: Vancouver Whitecaps Win 2-0 (+1200)
