Although the European leagues are currently in an international break, Major League Soccer hasn’t quite caught on and still has three matches today for us to bet on. Sure, some of the MLS teams will be missing a few key representatives, but nevertheless, the league is giving us at least a little action, so I, for one, am grateful. With that being said, let’s dive into those three matches and find our favorite MLS picks for the day.
Today in the MLS, we have the following matchups.
- Chicago Fire vs. New England Revolution
- Houston Dynamo vs. LA Galaxy
- St. Louis City SC vs. FC Dallas
We’ve had some success in this league so far this season, so let’s keep it going today!

Major League Soccer: Saturday’s Predictions September 6
Chicago Fire vs. New England Revolution: MLS Picks

Carles Gil leads New England with nine goals in 28 matches
Best Bet: Chicago/New England Under 3.25 (-120) BetOnline
Back the under with me here. Once again, this is how the Asian Handicap works. Our unit is split into two 0.5u wagers, one at under 3, the other at under 3.5, both priced at (-120). Two or less total goals, we win both bets, three goals exactly, we win and push for some profit, and if they score four or more combined we lose. It is what it is.
Now, Chicago beat this New England Revolution team in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 back in May, winning 3-1 on the road. Not only did we see an own goal from each side, Chicago allowed New England to get on the scoreboard with an OG in the 89′ minute. The Fire were just a few minutes away from a 3-0 shutout win.
Now, at home, Chicago scores plenty and also concedes, but New England fails to find the back of the net very often. They’ve scored just 36 goals this season, averaging just 1.29 goals per contest. Ironically, they score more on the road, but probably because their opponents have already netted one and the Revolution are playing from behind.
While I could see this being a 2-0 Chicago win, or a 2-1 Fire victory, I think we see a low scoring, grudge match, giving us a 1-1 draw.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw (+725)
Houston Dynamo vs. LA Galaxy: MLS Picks

Can Marco Reus lead the Galaxy to at least a point on the road?
Best Bet: LA Galaxy +0.5 (-109) BetOnline
I’ve loved fading both of these teams. But I’ll side with the road team tonight. Both squads are looking for a major late season turnaround, but I only think one is capable. Let’s discuss.
These teams played to a 1-1 draw back in April in LA. Houston went up 1-0 in the 14′ minute, and the Galaxy’s Mathias Jørgensen received a red card in the 28′ minute. However, Los Angeles continued to battle with only 10 men, and a 57′ minute free kick from Diego Fagundez earned the shorthanded hosts a point.
This is a form bet, because recently the Galaxy have been playing much better. Overall they have won three of their last four matches, beating Orlando City (No. 5 in East) in the Leagues Cup Third Place match to automatically qualify for the Concacaf Champions Cup. The Galaxy have also won against Colorado (No. 8 in West) and Pachuca (No. 6 in Liga MX), beating teams that have had more success than them this season.
Houston are flying high, coming off their first win since a last second, comeback effort against San Diego FC on July 5. Today they come back down to Earth, as I see the Galaxy earning a point.
Prediction: LA Galaxy Win 2-1 (+1000)
St. Louis City SC vs. FC Dallas: MLS Picks

João Klauss has nine goals for St. Louis City this MLS season
Heavy Lean: St. Louis/FC Dallas Under 3 (+105) BetOnline
I’ll be staying off this game completely. Nothing is quite striking me, but let me at least pitch you my lean (if you have to bet this match). We saw FC Dallas beat St. Louis City at home in July, taking them down in shutout fashion, 3-0. Two of those goals came in the final 11 minutes, including an 88′ minute penalty kick to really put the nail in the coffin.
The visitors couldn’t get much going offensively, and at home they should be much more focused on defense. Giving up three goals is not going to earn you three points very often, as City SC have given up three goals exactly in their last three matches (all 3-2 losses).
The offense has been clicking recently, but again, they gave up a couple cheap ones late to FC Dallas on the road. Tonight at home, I see them trying to hold strong for their fans, and hopefully earning at least a point in this character building season.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw (+675)
