Major League Soccer: Sunday’s Predictions August 24
Atlanta United vs. Toronto FC: MLS Picks

Theo Corbeanu has five goals for Toronto this season
Best Bet: ATL/TOR Under 3 (-118) BetOnline
These teams have under written all over them. Both sit way down on the Eastern Conference standings, and while Atlanta United is prone to allow plenty of goals, they certainly don’t make up for it on the other end of the field.
These teams already played to a 1-1 draw early this year, and their two most recent meetings have seen just two total goals. Toronto is barely netting a goal per game, but they do have a fairly solid back line. Despite ranking No. 12 on the Eastern Conference table, Toronto FC are No. 4 in the conference in goals allowed, giving up just 34 in 26 matches. But they also have the second worst offense overall.
Atlanta is right down there with them, scoring just 1.19 per contest, and they’ve only put up one goal in each of their last two matches, against the Colorado Rapids and Montreal. Toronto is a much tougher defense, and on the road, I see them being extra conservative.
Personally, I’m not sure we see a goal from either side in this match, as both should be playing for a draw.
Prediction: 0-0 Draw (+1600)
Charlotte FC vs. New York Red Bulls: MLS Picks

Wilfred Zaha has seven goals and nine assists for Charlotte
Best Bet: Charlotte FC ML (-113) Bovada
Charlotte might be the hottest team in the league. They have won their last six MLS contests outright, and remain unbeaten in their last seven as well. At home, they’ve won five of their last six and haven’t lost since the Chicago Fire came to town back in mid-May.
The point is, they are arguably in much better form than New York. Despite coming off a home win against the No. 1 team in the Eastern Conference, the Red Bulls are 3-0-3 in their last six MLS matches. They already smacked Charlotte at home earlier this year, winning 4-2 after leading 2-1 for most of the match.
But as we see, Charlotte is a big favorite for a reason. I’ll take the bait, lean in to the fact that they are climbing the MLS standings while the Red Bulls are slipping, and back them to get the job done at home.
Prediction: Charlotte FC Wins 2-1 (+725)
Seattle Sounders vs. Sporting KC: MLS Picks

Seattle takes on Sporting KC tonight in the MLS
Best Bet: Seattle Sounders ML/BTTS No (+185) BetOnline
It’s the same old song and dance. Once again, at Lumen Field, we are backing the Seattle Sounders to win in shutout fashion. Am I fading my hometown team? Absolutely. Here’s why.
Seattle is simply dominant at home. They have posted an 12-5-1 record this season, losing just one competitive match in front of their own fans. Of those 12 wins, six of them have been by two goals, and they’ve posted eight shutouts as well. History is on our side here.
Most recently, Seattle shutout Liga MX sides Puebla and Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup, outscoring their foes 7-0 in those contests. Now, let’s talk Sporting. They put up a fight when they hosted Seattle, losing 3-2, although they were down 3-0, and needed two penalty kicks to make it a close game.
So they haven’t scored from the field against Seattle this year. Last year at Lumen Field, Sporting KC was also shutout, losing 2-0. Sporting KC has been outscored 8-1 in their past three MLS matches, being shutout by San Diego FC 2-0 at home (No. 1 in Western Conference), and by the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-0 on the road (No. 3 in West).
Tonight, on the road against a team that is not only dominant at home, but currently ranks No. 5 in the West and is looking to make a playoff push, I see Sporting being shutout and going home defeated. Give me the Sounders to Nil tonight.
Prediction: Seattle Sounders Win 2-0 (+750)
