Major League Soccer: Saturday’s Predictions July 26

Seattle Sounders vs. Atlanta United: MLS Picks

Albert Rusnak and the Sounders look to steal three points in Atlanta tonight - Seattle Sounders Atlanta United Picks

Albert Rusnak and the Sounders look to steal three points in Atlanta tonight

Best Bet: Seattle Sounders ML (+170) BetOnline

If you’d rather take the draw no bet line at -104, that would give you some push potential, but I have much more faith in the Sounders, even on the road, than I do Atlanta.

Since losing three matches in the FIFA Club World Cup, the Sounders are unbeaten in five straight MLS contests, including three outright wins, one of which was on the road. These teams haven’t played in a few years, but Seattle has not beaten Atlanta since 2019. Think they’ve been holding a grudge?

Recently, Atlanta has not had a win in their last seven matches, and they rank third worst in goals allowed and goal differential in the Eastern Conference. The Sounders have been cruising since their tournament, and while they stay in a tight race in the Western Conference, I think they come prepared to earn three points on the road tonight, against a team that is close to waving the white flag on the season.

Prediction: Seattle Sounders Win 2-1 (+825)

Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Sporting KC: MLS Picks

Ali Ahmed leads Vancouver with five assist this season - MLS Picks

Ali Ahmed leads Vancouver with five assist this season

Best Bet: Vancouver ML/BTTS No (+175) BetOnline

Betting against my home town soccer club this evening as they take on the No. 2 team in the Western Conference. Vancouver got the best of Sporting KC twice last season, beating them 2-1 in each match, but tonight I think they get the shutout.

The Whitecaps have netted 39 goals this season, ranking No. 4 in the conference, but they’ve only given up 26 goals, ranking No. 2 in the West and tied for No. 3 in the MLS in terms of goals allowed. Their defense is just as good as their offense, and at home I think we see it tonight.

Sporting KC has only been shutout four times this season, but three of those have come on the road (Austin FC, Portland Timbers, and San Diego FC). Two of those teams are below Vancouver on the table, and the Whitecaps are in need of a bounce back spot.

The Whitecaps are finally back at home after five straight matches on the road. Their last home match, they were beaten by San Diego in an eight goal thriller, propelling the visitors to the top of the conference. Vancouver sits four points behind them, with a chance at cutting that lead to just one if they can pull off this win.

Vancouver has four home shutouts this season, three of those resulting in a win as well. Against a team like Sporting, who is 0-1-3 (W-D-L) in their last four road matches against top competition, I don’t think they show up tonight.

Prediction: Vancouver Whitecaps Win 2-0 (+750)
