The MLS has split up a monster weekend slate, giving us six matches tonight and nine tomorrow across the league. Let’s dive in to tonight’s picks and see if we can get us a winner or two before Saturday’s action.

After a red hot start, we are certainly back down to Earth. However, we are still positive for the season, and with three months to go, we’ve got to finish strong.

Major League Soccer: Friday’s Predictions July 25

FC Dallas vs. New York City FC: MLS Picks

Hannes Wolf leads NYCFC with nine goals this season, along with four assists - MLS Picks Predictions

Best Bet: Under 3 (-128) BetOnline

Don’t be afraid of a little juice here, on the road, NYCFC should know they need to focus on defense, something they already do anyways.

New York City FC is No. 8 on the Eastern Conference table, but they are No. 3 in goals allowed, being one of three teams in the conference allowing less than 30 this year. With that in mind, they don’t score too often either, but they might have their hands full against FC Dallas.

The hosts certainly allow more than they net this year, but they are coming off a 3-0 shutout win against St. Louis City SC at home. They’ve netted five total over their last two, but given New York City’s stellar defense, I don’t see them scoring multiple tonight. This match has 1-1 draw written all over it, so I am comfortable with paying some juice for this under with push potential in mind.

Prediction: 1-1 Draw (+550)

San Diego FC vs. Nashville SC: MLS Picks

Best Bet: 1H Draw (+140) BetOnline

Get in, get out, once again. We’ve got just 45 until the rest of our lives if these teams can hold on for a draw. Let me explain my thinking.

This is San Diego’s first year in the league, and they are EXPLODING on the scene. They are on top of the Western Conference, leading Vancouver by one point and Minnesota by two, while also leading the conference in goals scored (42) and goal differential (+15). But now they face one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, one who is locked in an equally tight battle.

Nashville SC sits a point out of the top spot of the East, tied with Philadelphia for second place. They have won six of their last seven games in MLS play, losing only to Inter Miami on the road. They have other road wins in that stretch, but not against as high caliber teams as San Diego is.

The point being, Nashville will be forced to respect a team like San Diego, while the hosts will also have a true test. I’m also on the full game draw at +283 because of a feeling in my gut, and the rest of the market priced it around +260.

San Diego just drew with Vancouver (No. 2 in West) and I think they certainly respect Nashville’s attack for the first 45 minutes.

Give me a scoreless first half and a goal from each team in the second to cash both of our bets.

Prediction: 1H 0-0 Draw (+235) and Full Game 1-1 Draw (+600)
