Major League Soccer: Round One Predictions November 1

Alright, we have reached the second matches of Round One. Teams who won last meeting could end it tonight. In fact, every single home team today is playing for their entire season, besides New York City FC, who could finish off Charlotte in front of their own fans.

Let’s get into our favorite picks for this weekend and see if any series might go to a third match!

New York City FC vs. Charlotte FC MLS Picks

Hannes Wolf and New York City need to end Charlotte's season tonight - MLS Picks

Hannes Wolf and New York City need to end Charlotte’s season tonight

Best Bet: NYCFC/Charlotte FC Under 2.5 (+119) BetOnline

Easily the best line on the market for this no brainer of a bet. These teams have gone under in all three meetings this year, with someone being shutout in each match, and we’ve seen these teams stay under in four of their last five head to head contests as well.

At home, New York City’s back line is stellar. They’ve allowed just 44 goals all season, with the Charlotte defense is only giving up 47 as well. Both teams will play very tight, even though Charlotte needs to be aggressive. Yes, the visitors must win this match to keep their season alive, but they could do so in penalty kicks and send this series back to North Carolina. However, the last thing they want is to fall down early and spend all afternoon battling for an equalizer on the road.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we see a scoreless draw settled in a shootout.

Prediction: New York City FC Wins 1-0 (+800)

Chicago Fire vs. Philadelphia Union: MLS Picks

Milan Iloski has been a great addition to the Philadelphia Union offense - MLS Picks

Milan Iloski has been a great addition to the Philadelphia Union offense

Best Bets: Chicago Fire/Philadelphia Union Under 3 (-120) BetOnline

We bet on the Union in the first match, and they melted down. After a scoreless first 70 minutes, the hosts netted two in just four minutes of game time to take a two goal lead. However, the Fire wasn’t quite put out. Chicago rallied for one goal in the 84′ minute and an equalizer in stoppage time to draw with the top team in the Eastern Conference. However, Philly won on PKs.

Tonight, I see the Union back line holding very strong on the road. The Fire will be very aggressive as they have everything to play for. Despite Chicago scoring over 70 goals this season, the Union’s defense has allowed just 37, which makes them the best back line in the entire MLS by a few goals.

Look for their defense to lead them in this match, that I see ending tonight at SeatGeek Stadium.

Prediction: Philadelphia Union Win 1-0 (+1400)

FC Dallas vs. Vancouver Whitecaps: MLS Picks

Brian White and the Vancouver offense is firing on all cylinders currently - MLS Picks

Brian White and the Vancouver offense is firing on all cylinders currently

Best Bets: Vancouver Whitecaps ML (-110) BetOnline

FC Dallas is done and Vancouver are rolling. The Whitecaps have shutout FC Dallas in two of three matches this year, only losing to them in the final match of the season where Vancouver played with a man down nearly the entire match. They are so very clearly the better team in this spot.

The Whitecaps can smell blood in the water and are more than capable of ending this series in just two matches.

Look for them to come out strong, daring their hosts to stop them and keep up at the same time. Vancouver has added some studs throughout the season, namely German legend Thomas Müller, who has netted eight goals in the same number of matches, including one in each of the times he played FC Dallas. Müller has also added three assists in his time with the club as well.

This series is already over in my eyes, and I see the Whitecaps ensuring that tonight on the road.

Prediction: Vancouver Whitecaps Win 2-1 (+800)
