Leagues Cup Picks & Predictions (8/2): More Soccer Action This Saturday

We’ve got plenty of Leagues Cup action on this Saturday, so let’s get right back into our best bets. We hit both of our Leagues Cup Picks last night, and had a no sweat winner the night before, so let’s hope we keep the momentum rolling in the right direction!

Leagues Cup: Saturday’s Predictions August 2

Round two of the league phase matches continue today, and so far Tigres UANL is the only team with two outright wins to their name. They sit alone on the Liga MX table, with a couple other squads on their tail at five points.

On the MLS side, Columbus has four total points after a win last night, and eight other teams have three points after one match, with several looking to add to that total today.

Let’s get into two teams I think could earn three points on the pitch this afternoon.

América vs. Minnesota United: Leagues Cup Picks

Best Bet: Minnesota United +0.5 (+115) BetOnline

Minnesota United took down Querétaro in an easy victory to start off this tournament, and now I see them competing for another. They take on Club América in Houston, and despite having to travel, Minnesota United is ready to go.

Club América were unimpressive in their opener against Real Salt Lake. They had to net an equalizing goal on essentially the last kick of the game, before losing in PKs. Ultimately, Minnesota is in great form.

They’ve been beaten just once in their last nine matches overall, and I simply think they are playing too well to be stopped. Give me Minnesota to at least come away with a draw.

Prediction: Minnesota Wins 2-1 (+1200)

Portland Timbers vs. Querétaro: Leagues Cup Picks

Antony and the Timbers take on Querétaro in the Leagues Cup tonight - Leagues Cup Picks

Best Bet: Portland ML/BTTS No (+190) BetOnline

We bet on Minnesota to win and shutout Querétaro, and it didn’t quite workout. Minnesota won 4-1, allowing a goal in the 67′ after just two shots on target. Querétaro weren’t able to generate much offensively, and they will be without midfielder Angel Zapata, who picked up two yellow cards.

Offense has already been an issue for Querétaro, and now it gets even harder to produce. They’ve netted just two goals in four competition matches this season, while creating just seven total shots on target. That won’t get the job done against Portland.

The Timbers have won two straight matches in shutout fashion, absolutely destroying Atlético de San Luis 4-0, despite only producing four shots on target.

Prediction: Portland Timbers Win 2-0 (+750)
