They are in a very good place, plus they are just three points behind FC Cincinnati and seven behind the Philadelphia Union. Mathematically, they can still win this conference and see themselves at the top of the table, especially with the extra matches in hand. A win today would cause them to jump NYCFC and be tied with FC Cincy, but would still have an extra match to play.
As for the Chicago Fire, they have had a lot of success recently to earn a spot in the postseason, but their work isn’t over yet. The Fire sit No. 9 on the Eastern Conference table, which is technically the final playoff spot. They are five points ahead of the New York Red Bulls, and they have just two matches remaining, while the Fire have three more (including tonight). Three points would seal a playoff spot for Chicago, but even just one point would almost guarantee they advance and partake in the postseason.

Both clubs will bring their best into this contest, but I think it means a little bit more to Inter Miami. The Chicago Fire are basically a point away from guaranteeing their spot in the postseason, while Inter Miami could theoretically still fall to No. 8 or worse in the East. They know they have a huge advantage of having some extra chances to earn points that other team’s do not, and despite Chicago’s recent success, I think they will be more cautious, knowing they likely don’t need another outright win to earn a trip to the postseason.

Give me Miami and the under. These teams played back in April in the Windy City to a scoreless draw. The visitors were at full strength and still failed to put one in the back of the net. At home, I certainly see them having more success on the offensive side of things, but also don’t see a world where this gets out of hand.
Chicago’s back line has been very good recently, and they know they don’t want to get into a shootout with their hosts. The Fire have shutout two straight opponents, and decent foes at that, while Inter Miami are unbeaten in their last four matches, winning three of them outright.
This is a match where I see the Fire trying to limit all of their host’s scoring opportunities, while not having much time to create any of their own. Sure, the books think we might see a decent amount of goals with the extremely high total, but I don’t think Miami will score enough to push this over, while I also don’t see Chicago contributing at all.
Prediction: Inter Miami Wins 2-0 (+1000)
