How Did We Get Here?
The United States won Group A after winning the tiebreaker against Jamaica, who appears in our other semifinal match.
The US tied with Jamaica in the opener, and then went on to dominate both Trinidad and Tobago, as well as St. Kitts & Nevis. It was no surprise that the United States ended up on top of that group.
In the quarterfinals, the US was able to knock off Canada and advance via penalty kicks after playing to a 2-2 draw after 120 minutes of play.
Now, the US faces a sneaky team representing Panama.
Panama was the outright winner of Group C with 7 points in Group Stage. Panama beat eventual group runner-up Costa Rica, and Martinique in their first two matches. They tied El Salvador knowing it was all they needed to clinch the top spot in the group.
In the quarterfinals, Panama skunked the 2022 FIFA World Cup host, Qatar, by a score of 4-0, moving them to the semifinals.
Tonight, these two teams face off with a spot in the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final on the line!

United States vs Panama Prediction
Straight up, this is going to be a true test for the US. Obviously they just squeaked by Canada in the quarterfinals, and now they face a red hot Panama team that has their eyes on their first ever CONCACAF Gold Cup title.
Panama has made the Gold Cup Final twice, losing to the United States in 2005 and 2013, but tonight they face off in the semifinals. However, in 2015, Panama defeated the United States in the 3rd place match.
Since the start of this tournament, I have had the United States and Mexico making the final, and we are just two wins away from that happening.
Although this Panama team is playing fantastic soccer at the moment, I believe the United States have more star power and will able to get the job done.
Their ML is incredibly juiced, so instead I will be making a different type of play.
United States vs Panama Best Bet
United States TT over 1.5 (-112) Bovada
The US just squeaked by Canada, however they arguably dominated the match.
The United States produced 21 shots, 8 of them on target, and controlled possession for 68% of the match. They also managed to create 13 corner kicks, while only conceding 3.
Canada only totaled 5 shots, and both went in the net that were on target.
Now, Panama’s offense is slightly better than Canada’s, but I do not believe that their defense is.
I think Panama’s only shot at winning this game is scoring more goals than the United States. I do not think their defense will be able to contain the American strikers, and I think the United States’ back line will be able to tame the Panama forwards.
Bonus Bet: United States 1-0 (+460) Bovada
A slight hedge here, I’ll be sprinkling on this correct score in case the United States is not able to put two in the back of the net. I think we see two aggressive offenses come out and test the opponents defense.
I’m betting that the United States defense does a better job containing their opposition.
