Although the quarterfinals were a two-leg contest, the semifinals are not. These two teams are playing a solo match, trying to punch their ticket to Sunday’s Final. Portugal won the UEFA Nations League back in 2019, and our other two semifinalists have also won it (France in 2021 and Spain most recently in 2023). Germany has never made it this far in this tournament, and as they are hosting this year, they will certainly want to make their home fans proud.
The Germans are unbeaten in this tournament, drawing twice during group stage, and playing Italy to a 3-3 draw in their second leg (winning 5-4 on aggregate). Portugal also drew twice during group stage, and after losing to Denmark 1-0 in the first leg, they came out on fire, winning 5-2 in the second leg of the quarterfinal to advance to the semis today.
UEFA Nations League Semifinal Best Bets

Florian Wirtz and Germany host Portugal in the UEFA Nations League
Best Bets: Germany/Portugal Under 3 (-111) BetOnline
Both teams have conceded just eight goals in eight matches. Germany has netted 23 goals on 17 assists, while Portugal has only netted 18 on 12 assists. However, the hosts don’t want this to turn into a shootout. They respect the firepower that the visitors have and will try to keep possession for as long as possible.
Germany knows they don’t need three or more goals to win this game. If they play solid, sound defense, one or two gets the job done. The hosts will focus on man-marking Ronaldo, making sure Bruno Fernandes doesn’t have time to turn and create chances, and then turning around with a strong counter attack when those chances arise.
Yes, Germany has a ton of attack themselves. But they will try to save it for the Final on Sunday as much as they can. Give me Germany to advance on their home turf. Again, this is just a 90-minute bet. A one-one draw is perfectly fine.
Prediction: Germany wins 1-0 (+1000)
