France won their group after the No. 10 team in the world beat England (No. 5), the Netherlands (No. 11) and Wales (No. 30). They netted 11 goals and only allowed four in the process, tacking on six assists as a team. France did not qualify for the Women’s EURO until 1997, spending three competitions failing to make it out of group stage. Finally, in 2009 they made it to the bracket, but lost in the quarterfinals for three tournaments after that.
Finally, in 2022 they made it to the Semifinals, only to lose to Germany, whom they face today.
Germany finished second in their group. The No. 3 team in the world beat Poland (No. 27), Denmark (No. 12), and lost to Sweden (No. 6) in a match that decided who topped the table. The Swedes were eliminated by England in the Quarterfinals, so Germany might be okay with missing that matchup if they can get by the French today.
Germany won every edition of the EURO from 1995 until 2013, with a couple championships prior to that as well. However, in 2017 they were beaten in the quarterfinals, and in 2022 they lost to England in the Final Match. Can they make it back to the semifinals today?

As I eluded to earlier, Germany has gotten the better of this team the past two matches. They played a friendly back in October of 2022, where Germany was victorious, 2-1. This came just months after the Germans took down France in the 2022 Women’s EURO Semifinals by the same 2-1 score.
Prior to that, France won two of three friendlies dating from 2018 through 2021. The point is, France has the intangibles. This team knocked them out of the EURO just three years ago, and now they have a shot at returning the favor. The offense has been clicking, the defense has been good as well, but this German team is bound for a real breakout match, and I think it comes today.

I am sorry to the French, but I trust this German team more. France has been balling and they won the group of death. No arguments there. They are more battle tested, they’ve handled two Top 10 teams with ease, but now they face the second best team in Europe.
I understand France is the favorite in this match, but I do not believe they should be. This should be closer to a pick ’em on the draw no bet line, as well as to qualify for the semifinals. Therefore, I see the value on Germany, and I’ll be backing them.
The Germans are coming off an embarrassing loss to Sweden, allowing four of the five goals they’ve conceded this competition to come from that match. Germany has assisted on four of five goals so far, and despite not having Carlotta Wamser in the lineup, the rest of the squad will pick up the slack.
I do think we see extra time and even penalties to decide this match, but give me the Germans to move on in this year’s EURO.
