Fluminense matched up with the UCL Runner Ups, Inter Milan, and the Brazilians broke out to a one goal lead just three minutes into the contest. Things held until stoppage time, where they found another goal in the 90’+3′ to seal a 2-0 win, and advance to the FIFA Club World Cup Quarterfinals.
Al Hilal faced Manchester City, and conceded just nine minutes into the match. But that didn’t stop them. They rallied for goals to equalize and take a 2-1 lead early in the second half before Man City tied things up. After going into extra time tied at two, both teams scored in the first period, but Marcus Leonardo netted his second goal of the match in the 112′ minute, which was enough to move on, winning 4-3.

Fluminense was involved in two scoreless draws during group stage, plus they needed two late winners to beat Ulsan for their only win. Their defense is led by veteran Thiago Silva, and they’ve been rock solid all tournament. But I think a lack of offense could be their demise in this contest.
Al Hilal is know for attacking soccer, they play very aggressive, and I think they’ll be able to take down the Brazilian side. Although the books think this is going to be a low scoring affair, I feel that Fluminense will need to net a couple to move on.
And I don’t think that happens.

I’m paying a little extra juice here, but I trust this Saudi side more.
Al Hilal is relentless, they are battle tested overall and in this competition, and they’ve faced adversity before. Al Hilal was down to Real Madrid in group stage, but battled back to force a draw and earn a point. Then when it mattered, they took down Pachuca to move on to the Round of 16.
More recently, they fell down to Manchester City in just the ninth minute. Most teams would have rolled over and died facing the EPL giants, but not Al Hilal. The Saudi side rallied to equalize and force extra time, eventually winning in the 112′ minute.
While Fluminense is coming off beating Inter Milan, they didn’t necessarily impress me in that match. And I’d argue that the Italians simply forgot to show up. Ultimately, I don’t see them getting by an Al Hilal side that is looking to build momentum off of two straight wins.
