We are back from the break with English Premier League coverage. Liverpool will host Nottingham Forest at Anfield Stadium. This is the first time these two clubs are facing off this season.
Liverpool is 6-0-5 to start the year and eighth in the table. Obviously, a huge surprise start to all as they are the defending league champions. They come into this match off a bad loss two weeks ago, getting shutout out by Manchester City.
The team is 1-0-4 in their last five games. It’s all very surprising with all the upgrades they made this offseason. They parted ways with Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz, two huge offensive pieces. It was all accounted for by adding Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz…or at least they thought.
Losing five games already is rough stuff, but they haven’t clicked yet. Mo Salah only has 4 goals and 2 assists this season which makes you really see how good his chemistry with Diaz and Nunez was. They’re eight points out of first and not only do they need to start winning, but other teams to drop some games.

Nottingham at the bottom of the table after great season last year

Nottingham forward Chris Wood celebrates after scoring a goal.
Nottingham Forest is 2-3-6 this season and 19th in the table. This team went from a top five team last season to being sent down if the season ended today. It’s amazing the difference a year can make.
Their best player last season, Chris Wood, has been nowhere to be found. He only has 2 goals this season on 16 shots that only 6 have been on target. Morgan Gibbs-White has been the next best player with 2 goals and an assist on 16 shots with 8 on target.
Forest coming into this game off a win two weeks ago over Leeds United. They hope to build off that momentum, but the break in between may mess with that. Otherwise, they are 1-1-3 in their last five matches. All three of those loses were shutouts.
It may work in their favor that Liverpool isn’t off to the best start, but it’s still Liverpool. Nottingham is going to have to be ready to go into Anfield and expect a battle. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Liverpool vs. Nottingham picks.

I think we see a big game from Liverpool. This team is dying for a bounce back spot and it’s being handed to them on a silver platter. In front of the home crowd is a perfect spot vs. a struggling team with little offense.
Another thing I think we see if a lot of goals from Liverpool. There is no value on the moneyline, so we had to look for it. I love this play for Liverpool to win and the match to have 3 or more goals. I’m not saying they win in a shutout and that’s totally fine, but they could clear this on their own.
Give me Hugo Ekitike to score a goal for even money. Hugo has 3 goals and an assist this season with four shots on target. That means three of those four have been goals and we like those numbers. The scoring has been spread out, but I like Ekitike in this spot.
