Nothing I love more than early morning soccer on the weekends. Today, we have Brighton & Hove Albion hosting Manchester City. It’ll be the first time these two teams meet this season.
Manchester City is 1-0-1 this season and eleventh in the table. They come into this game off a loss to Tottenham at home by a score of 2-0. Getting embarrassed at home has got to sting and make you want to do better going into your next game.
Erling Haaland had a great start in game one of their season but was completely shut down in game two. He had six shots in their first game that included two goals but had one lone shot in his second game.
Although they’re on the road, I think this is a good bounce back spot for Man City. This will be Brighton’s second home game, so it’s not the home opener, which could’ve played a role. They’re 5-3-2 in their last ten road games going back to last year.

Brighton will try to find a way to get into the win column for the first time this year

Brighton is 0-1-1 this season and eighteenth in the table. They come into this game off a loss to Everton last week. Brighton is playing in the League Cup and are coming off a 6-0 win over Oxford United. They’ll look to carry that momentum into this home game.
The exit of Joao Pedro is a huge blow to this squad. Pedro was a premier goal scorer who went to Chelsea in the off season. So far, Matt O’Riley leads the team with four shots and then a few guys have 2 shots each. There hasn’t been a ton of offense which needs to change.
Defensively, they haven’t start bad. They’ve allowed three goals over two games but are coming off a shut out in the League Cup game. It’s going to take some work to contain Erling Haaland in front of that net. He’s a monster.

We’re getting some serious value here and it’s almost strange. Man City is the clear favorite here but are priced at -115. I’m going ahead and take the bait if it is because that’s crazy value against a team who can come in and put up four goals on you.
Man City being shut out last game is what makes me feel like they score this game, a lot and early. If they can net two early in the first half, there will be no looking back for City. This is their game to lose in all honesty.
Give me the big man in the front. I like Haaland’s 2 or more shots on target for -105. He’s coming off getting blanked and will be firing in this game. I’m also going to be taking his anytime goal for -125. This is another game where I wouldn’t be surprised to see a guy score two goals..wink wink.
