English Premier League Picks and Predictions (8/24): Sunday Morning EPL

Chris Wood has been Nottingham Forest's only sign of life on offense this year - EPL Picks

While we count down the Sundays until NFL football returns, we’ve got to get used to starting out mornings with some winners across the pond! The English Premier League gives us three matches for some entertainment on Sunday, and while the contests might not be the most exciting, we’ve still dug into the mess and found our favorite picks.

Sunday in the EPL we have:

So far in the EPL this season, we sit at 4-5 -0.51 units overall, going 2-7 +0.75 units with a couple correct score hits to make up for it. Let’s keep it going for Sunday’s slate.

English Premier League: Sunday’s Predictions August 24

Now, I dug deep into the Everton vs. Brighton match, but could not find anything to my liking. Brighton only scored on a penalty kick last week and conceded in the final moments at home, leaving me without much faith in them as of this moment. On the other side of things, Everton conceded a late penalty to lose to Leeds United on the road in their opener, failing to put anything in the back of the net.

Brighton was able to escape with points, while Everton are still looking for their first of the season, and at home, I think we see a stronger showing from Everton. I lean their direction (ever so slightly) because of the value on their ML, but I do not think it is worth my money.

However, we did find picks in the other two matches to keep us entertained, starting as early as 9:00 a.m. eastern!

Crystal Palace vs. Nottingham Forest EPL Picks

Hudson-Odoi and Nottingham Forest take on Crystal Palace on the road

Best Bet: Nottingham Forest +0.25 (-120) BetOnline

Back Nottingham Forest on the road here. I understand Crystal Palace earned a point on the road against Chelsea and won their UEFA Conference League Qualifier this week as well, but they begin life without winger Eberechi Eze has he makes the move to Arsenal.

He has scored 29 goals for Palace over the past three seasons, adding 17 assists as well. This put him first or second in scoring on the team each year, leading the team or ranking in the top four in assists every season. That’s a lot of production to replace, and despite the win, they looked lost without him against Fredrikstad.

Forest opened with a commanding 3-1 win over Brentford at home, scoring all three goals in the opening 45 minutes. This team is trending upwards over the past few seasons. Since their promotion back into the Premier League, they finished No. 16 and No. 17 on the table their first two years, but jumped all the way into the top eight, finishing No. 7 last season.

They opened with a win, they face a team that is scrambling to fill a huge hole that recently went missing, and I think they see this as a game they can certainly win outright away from home. Look for them to be aggressive as Palace struggles to find their offensive rhythm.

For -120 on both the draw no bet and the double chance, I’ll back them on the road.

Prediction: Nottingham Forest Wins 2-1 (+1100) OR 1-1 Draw (+600)

Fulham vs. Manchester United EPL Picks

Manchester United are still searching for their first points this EPL season - English Premier League Picks

Manchester United are still searching for their first points this EPL season

Best Bet: Fulham/Manchester United Under 2.75 (-113) BetOnline

Now, I usually don’t like taking the Asian Handicap this way, because we don’t have a “win and push” option. If there’s two total goals, we win both bets, but if there’s three total goals, we push and lose. However, betting the under 3 straight is around (-165), and I do think things are going to be low scoring, especially based on history.

Manchester United failed to score at home against Arsenal last weekend. Now they go on the road without much morale, facing a team that plays them very tough every time.

Fulham vs. Manchester United Recent Head to Head Meetings

  • March 2, 2025: 1-1 Draw
  • January 26, 2025: 1-0 Manchester United
  • August 16, 2024: 1-0 Manchester United
  • February 24, 2024: 2-1 Fulham
  • November 4, 2023: 1-0 Manchester United

Fulham have not beaten Manchester United since their upset at Old Trafford on February 24, 2024, but each match with a winner has been settled by just one goal. The last meeting in the FA Cup back in March was a 1-1 draw. The past three meetings between these teams have had either one or two total goals, and that extends to four of their last five head to head contests as well. History is on our side with these teams going under, and both defenses were very tight last weekend, each allowing just one goal to their opponent.

Fulham scored in the 90’+7′ to equalize against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, and didn’t allow a goal from the field. Brighton scored on a 55′ minute penalty kick. Fulham and Brighton combined for just six total shots on target in their match, including the PK that found the back of the net. Manchester United’s defense didn’t allow much after giving the Gunners the lead just 13 minutes into the contest.

I see this being a kick around, which is what Fulham would like. Earning a point against on of the “top” teams in the EPL is always huge for the fans and for locker room motivation. After their comeback to earn a point last week, I expect their defense to keep the momentum going against a tougher opponent at home.

Prediction: 1-1 Draw (+600)
