English Premier League: Saturday’s Predictions August 16
Get ready, cause we’re sweating something in the early match. Maybe it’s a wake and cash for you, maybe you’ll be up with me tomorrow live tweeting about it. Either way, a 6:30 a.m. central sweat really gets the day going. I’ve decided to leave the bulk of the slate alone, but found another bet in the final, stand alone match as well.
Aston Villa vs. Newcastle United EPL Picks

Aston Villa is at home to begin their English Premier League campaign, hosting Newcastle United. Last EPL season, Newcastle finished No. 5 on the table, while Villa finished No. 6, stealing the final UEFA Champions League spot. Now, both had the same number of points, but the Magpies led on total wins and goal differential, solidifying their spot in the UCL.
You think Aston Villa, at home, doesn’t know that this is the team that took the Champions League from them, after making the UCL quarterfinals last season, losing to eventual champion PSG, just 5-4 on aggregate.
Villa Park is going to be rocking in Birmingham, and for plus money I am willing to take a stab that Ollie Watkins and company bring the heat for us on Saturday. Sure, Newcastle still has Alexander Isak (for now), but who knows if that guy will see the pitch. Based on the odds movement, it isn’t likely.
With his future with the Magpies up in the air, I’m not sure the team will be fully focused on the road in a hostile environment to start the season.

Wolverhampton Wolves vs. Manchester City EPL Picks
Erling Haaland and Manchester City begin their EPL campaign on the road
Best Bet: Manchester City -1.5 (+122) Bovada
Back Manchester City tomorrow to assert their dominance on top of this English Premier League, even on the road. They ended up No. 3 on the table last year, but are gunning to get back to the top spot, something they did for four years straight prior to last season.
We got a taste of all of their new transfers during the FIFA Club World Cup, where they outscored their group stage opponents 13-2 in three matches before losing to a very talented Al Hilal team in extra time, 4-3 in the quarterfinals.
Regardless of who Man City starts, their depth at each position is unlike anyone else in the league, and if you don’t want to back them by two, pairing their ML with Haaland to score for +110 or better makes betting on him worth while, but City have so many other options, it might be harder for him to get his slice of the pie this season.
The point is, Manchester City is still an EPL Title contender, and they will make sure the world knows in their stand alone match on Saturday against a much inferior team in Wolverhampton.
Prediction: Manchester City Win 3-0 (+1000)
