Today, the Lionesses of England desperately need a win against the Dutch, as they take on the Netherlands.

England lost to France to open the tournament, 2-1. The Lionesses had a goal disallowed for offsides via VAR very early in the match, then proceeded to give up two quick goals before the end of the half. Eventually, Keira Walsh found the back of the net for the English, but it was way too late. France had captured three tough points.
In the other match, the Netherlands handled business. They absolutely dominated Wales, beating them 3-0 on the scoreboard, but it was much more lopsided on the stat sheet. Both teams had four corner kicks, but the Netherlands limited their opponents to just five total attempts, none of them reaching their target.
On the flip side, the Dutch totaled 19 attempts, with seven of them on target, and of course three finding their home in the back of the net. They also managed to gain over 67% of possession in the contest.
Will they have the same spirit today against an England team that likely needs two wins to advance at this point?

I backed England in their match against France, expecting more out of them (and less out of the French). Today I won’t be spite fading them, but I will be backing the Dutch. The Netherlands have recently been competing in the UEFA Nations League Group Stage matches prior to this competition.
They lost just once to Germany (No. 3 in the world) while drawing with them in another contest. Other than that, they looked rock solid going unbeaten in 5/6 matches. I think the Netherlands are ready to go, and might be a little underestimated by their top-5 opponent today.

Just because of how I’m going to attack this game, I feel like I should preface this with I have a lot of Dutch in my DNA. With that being said, we are on the Netherlands Double Chance and the Draw No Bet (+200). And it took a lot out of me to hold off on the ML.
I just watched the odds on the 2.5 total flip, from shading the over to where it sits now, a little juiced to the under. The books expect a slow, defensive game, which benefits the Dutch.
The Netherlands earned three points already, but they faced the easiest team in the group. Now they face the No. 5 and No. 10 squads in the world to finish things off. Both England and the Netherlands should assume that France beats Wales and jumps to six points. If that is the case, both teams would be in serious need of a win to advance, but a draw works better for the Dutch.
Their defense was rock solid in the first match, but they should be even more focused tonight against the defending EURO Champions. This team created plenty of chances, they finished a good number of them, and they heavily limited those same chances from their opponent. Neither team has seen the other since a 2022 friendly, and I think the English could be in for a rude slap in the face from reality in today’s match.
England will certainly be aggressive, but the French were able to contain them in their opener, and I see the Netherlands having the same success trying to do so, with the possibility of finding a late winner as well.
Give me the Dutch to at least earn a point, but for 2-1 at push potential, we will also sprinkle on the draw no bet.
Prediction: Netherlands Win 1-0 (+1200)
