This Saturday morning two teams from England compete for some hardware as Crystal Palace and Manchester City battle it out at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup Final. The team that reigns from the Etihad are in their third straight FA Cup Title match, while Palace is back for third time ever, their first since 2016. Man City won it over their rival, Manchester United back in 2023 by a score of 2-1, but lost last year to United on the same score.
While this isn’t the most prestigious trophy in England, both teams will want to compete. Winning the FA Cup would automatically qualify Crystal Palace for the UEFA Europa League, something they wouldn’t be doing otherwise based on the EPL Standings. Manchester City still has a shot at qualifying for the Champions League, but with a point penalty still looming over their heads, they’ll want to solidify this win and leave no doubt.
Ultimately, there is plenty of prize money as well, and everyone wants to lift the cup. Will Palace be able to take down Manchester City? Or will the top dawgs take down an inferior opponent?

I have not been the biggest fan of backing Manchester City this year, but they’re certainly the better team on paper. They have all kinds of firepower up top, they have not lost to Palace outright since October of 2021, and I don’t see them starting now. Winning the FA Cup would be a huge confidence boost to this team heading into the final two matches of the EPL as they try to stay in a UCL qualifying position.

In this Cup Final, I think we see a low scoring, defensive affair, with eventually Manchester City breaking out and finding a winner. This team is insanely talented on all levels of the pitch, and they’ve proven they can take down this foe. Earlier this season, Manchester City was down 2-1 late in the match on the road, when they evened things up to escape with a point on the road.
Later they hosted Crystal Palace and were down 2-0, but that didn’t stop them. They rallied for five unanswered goals to win by three and secure as many points. I see the more dominant team handling business and lifting a trophy in order to keep the fans happy, the players motivated, and the entire club ready to push for a UCL spot in the final two league matches. Defense will be a priority for this Manchester City team who is much better than allowing Palace to score twice per match.
Look for City to take pride in pitching a shutout, but somehow finding a late winner to seal some hardware.
