We’ve got clubs with tons of history facing off at a historic venue, so of course we had to find our favorite picks. A depleted Chelsea roster faces a Liverpool team who just lost their starting goalkeeper for several weeks. Who will come out on top in this marquee match this weekend?

Chelsea vs. Liverpool EPL Betting Insights

Liverpool were off to a high flying start, winning seven straight competitive matches to start the season. They were not just unbeaten, they won their first five EPL contests outright, as well as their first bouts in the UEFA Champions League and the Carabao Cup. I’ll be the first to admit, they BARELY squeaked by on several occasions. However, they just lost Allison Becker to injury for about six weeks, and they have dropped two straight matches.

Chelsea is also dealing with some injuries, as Cole Palmer is still sidelined. Lucky for the Blues, Joao Pedro has been filling in with plenty of attacking power up top. The hosts are 2-2-2 in EPL play so far this year, and have split contests in the UCL, losing on the road to Bayern Munich but taking down Benfica at home this week. Will they have the manpower from some reserves to take down the defending league champions at home?

Yes, Liverpool lost their keeper. But the back up is no slouch. Georgian national, Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to make the start after filling in after Becker’s injury. He had a shutout for his country in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria, and standing 6’6″ makes him a threatening presence between the posts.

He’s also playing behind one of the best back lines across Europe, even if they haven’t looked like it recently.

They’ve been pushing the boundaries, seeing how much they could get away with and still end up on top. In Liverpool’s seven straight wins, they let their opponent equalize after building a two goal lead three separate times, only to find a late winner in every match.. They have netted three game winning goals during stoppage time, one of which was a penalty against Burnley, and three others came in the 80′ minute and beyond.

Their antics finally caught up with them, losing to Crystal Palace in stoppage time (after equalizing in the 87′), and also dropping a UCL contest to Galatasaray on the road via a penalty kick. This is a match where Arne Slot will have his team fully focused and ready to roll on the road.

Chelsea are beat up, they are injured, and they are still finding their footing. The Blues are 1-1-1 at home this year, playing Crystal Palace to a scoreless draw, losing to Brighton & Hove Albion on two stoppage time winners, before beating Benfica (who doesn’t play in a top five European league, no offense).

Without Allison in net, Liverpool’s back line will need to step up, but I’m sure they were ripped apart after two straight losses. No Cole Palmer for Chelsea hinders their attack, and they will also miss Trevor Chalobah who drew a red card in their loss to Brighton, thus making their back line even weaker. Liverpool will certainly come prepared to take advantage.
