We’re betting the home favorite to open this tournament. As chalky as it sounds, do we really think Miami loses this opening match at home? Put on your tinfoil hat with me for a second. They’ve got Messi, Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets. Ain’t no way those guys don’t show out AT HOME to start this tournament.

Even the most novice soccer fans will recognize more than a couple names on the Inter Miami roster, while the Al Ahly roster is filled with guys who are just happy to be playing for a living. Recently they’ve had trouble getting out of group stage in this competition, and with a hungry MLS side ready to prove their worth, I could see it getting ugly.
Inter Miami is simply the better team here. Do not let their attachment to the MLS fool you. They should sweep their group with ease, and the fact that they get to open up the tourney in front of their home fans should tell you all you need to know. Javier Mascherano should start all the studs and let them put on a show to open this international competition.
Give me Miami at plus money to get the job done, and again, I will not be upset if this loses. It is a no-brainer bet in my eyes.
