The English Premier League has given us a stand alone match on Friday afternoon, so of course, we had to dive in and find our favorite picks. I’ll be the first to admit, after starting off hot, we have come back down to Earth in terms of betting on the EPL, but we’ve got a long season to go. This afternoon, AFC Bournemouth hosts Fulham in what might not be the most exciting match, but nevertheless, we had to dive in and find something to wager on. Let’s get into it.

AFC Bournemouth vs. Fulham EPL Betting Insights

Both teams are off to a decent start in the EPL so far. AFC Bournemouth is No. 6 on the table right now with 11 points, after three wins, two draws and just the one loss to Liverpool, where they came back from a 2-0 deficit but allowed two goals later than the 88′ minute to lose. Excluding their match against the defending EPL champions, AFC Bournemouth have allowed just three goals in five matches, giving me tons of faith in their back line. And the Fulham attack isn’t all that scary.

Fulham is 2-2-2 through six EPL matches this year, allowing eight goals while only scoring seven of their own. They have yet to find a road win this season, drawing with Brighton & Hove Albion in their opening match on a stoppage time goal to salvage a point, while being shutout 2-0 at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea and losing 3-1 to Aston Villa at Villa Park, after scoring in the third minute. The visitor’s two wins came against Leeds United and Brentford, both at home against teams that are already towards the bottom of the EPL table. Can they figure things out on the road today?

As I eluded to above, Bournemouth’s back line has been fine, despite allowing four goals to Liverpool on the road. They have three other shutouts in their six EPL matches, two of those being outright victories. Now, four of the last five head to head meetings between these teams have went over the total, but back in April at Bournemouth, the hosts were victorious, winning 1-0, with that goal being scored inside of the first minute.

I do not have any faith in the Fulham offense, and will be backing the under in this matchup.

Excluding their opening match against Liverpool, AFC Bournemouth has netted six goals in five matches, allowing just three to their opponents. On the other sideline, Fulham has only netted seven goals in six matches, but have just two in three matches on the road, one of which that came in stoppage time.

This is a match where Bournemouth knows they are the stronger team in better form. Look for them to assert their dominance early, playing possession and tiring out the legs of their visitors. This will give Fulham very limited opportunities to find the back of the net, as their focus will be on trying to gain back possession from their hosts.

Ultimately, neither offense is that potent, but both defenses have had plenty of success this season, making me think this one sees two goals tops.
