Michigan’s online gaming and sports betting industry achieved a significant milestone in August 2025, with combined gross receipts reaching $312.54 million.
According to a report from the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB), this represents a 9.8% increase from July’s total of $284.6 million.
The growth underscores the state’s expanding digital gambling market, encompassing both iGaming and online sportsbooks.
Michigan iGaming Monthly Gross Receipts and Performance Breakdown
In August, iGaming gross receipts totaled $263.27 million, up from $250.5 million in July. Meanwhile, gross receipts from online sportsbooks amounted to $49.27 million, a significant rise from $34.1 million the previous month.
Adjusted gross receipts (AGR) for iGaming reached $247.2 million, marking a 5.1% increase from July. Online sportsbooks saw an even more substantial rise, with AGR climbing 43.1% to $34.2 million.
Moreover, The total internet sports betting handle for August was $338.9 million, up 19.9% from July’s $282.7 million.
This surge in revenue highlights the growing appeal of real money online casino experiences and the increasing popularity of online sportsbooks among Michigan residents.
Operators attribute this growth to enhanced user experiences, diverse game offerings, and effective promotional strategies.
Can Michigan Maintain its Pace?
Looking ahead, the key question is whether Michigan can sustain this upward trajectory. In July 2025, the state reported $284.6 million in iGaming and sports betting revenue, up 28.9% year-over-year.
Adjusted gross receipts totaled $259.1 million, with iGaming generating $235.2 million and mobile betting revenue rising 38.7% to $23.9 million.
To maintain this growth, Michigan will need to continue fostering a competitive and innovative environment. This includes supporting technological advancements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting responsible gaming practices.
It also helps that the NFL season has started, and in a couple of months, the NBA season will also begin. The state’s sportsbooks will surely see good numbers to close out the year.
