Zachary Fischer Wins WSOPC Cherokee Main Event Title

Zachary Fischer sealed his first WSOP Circuit ring and a life-changing $324,135 victory at the Cherokee Main Event. He stood victorious among 1,437 entrants in this $1,700 buy-in tournament, held at Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina.

Transitioning from expectation to elation, Fischer rode what poker fans affectionately call a ‘baby run good.’ He and his wife are expecting a child soon.

“It really means a lot to me,” Fischer said. “I’ve been playing for a really long time. This is my first major win, and I’m just really happy.”

Shortly after, he added, “I just got married and I’m having a kid soon, so the baby run good is real.”

Zachary Fischer’s Run at the WSOPC Main Event

He faced a stacked final table. The final group of competitors included Shane Lea in fourth, Warren Sheaves in third, and J.B. Wells in second.

First, Eduardo Paz bowed out in ninth. Marc Lacroix followed in eighth. Then Leo Taffe met defeat when his pocket 10s clashed with Wells’ queens.

As the final three battled for control, Warren Sheaves shoved with A-5, but Wells held pocket sixes and eliminated Sheaves in third.

A seesaw heads-up battle ensued between Fischer and Wells. Momentum swung back and forth. Then came the pivotal moment. In a three-bet pot on a K-9-8 board, Wells shoved with the middle pair. Fischer called with pocket queens and regained the lead.

Moments later, Fischer moved all-in with Q-10 suited. Wells went all-in for his last 10 big blinds with J-5 suited. A queen on the flop secured Fischer’s victory.

Fischer’s win also vaulted his lifetime live earnings past $1 million.
