Stephen Chidwick has added another remarkable achievement to his illustrious poker career, winning the 2025 North American Poker Tour (NAPT) $50,000 Super High Roller event.
The Las Vegas tournament attracted a star-studded field, and Chidwick emerged victorious, showcasing his precision, patience, and unparalleled tournament skill. This victory not only solidifies his reputation but also narrows the gap in the all-time money rankings among poker elites.
Stephen Chidwick’s Run at the Final Table
Six players bagged chips on Wednesday night, with Boivin and Chidwick holding the top two positions overnight. Registration remained open through the start of Day 2, allowing re-entries and giving several high roller standouts a chance to join the action.
By the time the field reached an unofficial final table, Boivin commanded a significant lead, holding more than three times Chidwick’s stack. Play proceeded at a deliberate pace, with deep stacks encouraging patient, strategic decisions. As the evening progressed, players gradually fell, leaving five to reach the dinner break.
Boivin eliminated recent $20,000 high roller winner Nick Petrangelo in fifth place, as his pocket queens held against Petrangelo’s K♠J♣. Shortly after, Boivin picked off Kenney on the bubble, with his A♦J♠ holding against Kenney’s K♣Q♦.
Although Boivin threatened to run away with the title, Chidwick mounted a comeback, while Katz remained a contender for over three hours. Katz eventually succumbed to bad luck in third place when his pocket threes were cracked by Chidwick’s K♣3♣, which hit a king on the turn. The PokerGO founder earned $223,100, increasing his career earnings to $41.7 million.
Chidwick began to pull away early in the heads-up match against Boivin. The Belgian high roller survived one double-up, but his second all-in attempt would be his last. On a rivered A♣Q♣7♦A♥6♥ board, Chidwick shoved, and Boivin called with Q♥9♠.
Chidwick’s A♦10♦ held, giving him trips and the victory. Boivin’s runner-up finish boosted his lifetime earnings to $13.9 million.
Cementing a Legacy
With this win, Chidwick has crossed $75 million in career tournament earnings, further cementing his legacy as one of the greatest poker tournament players of all time. Known for consistent high-stakes performances, he continues to inspire aspiring poker professionals worldwide.
Reflecting on his career, Chidwick said,
“At the end of the day, I realized it doesn’t mean that much. Most of it is volume and just playing the high stakes for a long time. But I think that says something in itself. Longevity at the top of the game at the high stakes is something that’s been important to me. And yeah, it’s always nice to have a leaderboard to motivate you.”
Beyond earnings, Chidwick’s thoughtful play, adaptability, and sharp analytical skills set him apart in competitive poker.
His ongoing achievements continue to shape modern tournament strategy, making him a role model for both new and seasoned players.
