Strap up your skates because we’ve got Game 4 up in Alberta as the Edmonton Oilers look to bounce back as they host the Vegas Golden Knights. The Oilers took both games in Vegas before losing in Game 3 back at home, thus ending the hopes of a sweep.
Vegas was leading Game 1 at home 2-1 after the first period and held that through a scoreless second. But then the Oiler attack came alive. Edmonton netted three unanswered goals in the third period (four total) from three different skaters in order to secure a Game 1 victory. We saw nine total goals in Game 2 after the Oilers won 5-4 in OT. Vegas led 1-0 after the first, but Edmonton found themselves on top 4-2 early in the third period. However, the Golden Knights rallied to force OT, only to lose after 15 extra minutes by Leon Draisaitl’s fifth goal of the postseason.
Edmonton was up 2-0 heading back home, and the Knights desperately needed a Game 3 win. They got exactly that in another high scoring contest, winning 4-3 on the road. The Oilers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but VGK tied things up before the end of the first, and led 3-2 after the second. Connor McDavid tied things up for Edmonton with just three minutes to go, but Reilly Smith netted the winner in the final seconds of the game.
Now we go again for Game 4 tonight in Edmonton.

After the Oilers won both games on the road, I was screaming sweep from the mountaintop. I did not have any faith in the Golden Knights to rally and win on the road, but they did just that. It helps that Calvin Pickard sat out and forced the Oilers to put Stuart Skinner back between the posts, and it sounds like the same thing is happening tonight.
Edmonton outshot the Knights in both games in Vegas, but VGK rallied to hold the Oilers to just 20 SOGs in Game 3. They will certainly need their defense to step up again if they want a shot at winning this game. I certainly lean with the Oilers, but don’t necessarily have the stones to back them with Skinner in net.
I’ll pivot and take a stab at the total instead.

Stuart Skinner needs to step up for the Oilers
Golden Knights vs Oilers Prediction: Oilers Win, Under 6.5
Best Bets: Under 6.5 (+117) BetOnline
This bet is not necessarily because I have faith in Skinner. I just think Vegas will spend a majority of this game defending the Oilers’ attack, rather than being able to produce chances of their own. The Knights benefitted from having more power play opportunities at home, which they took advantage of and still came up short.
As far as this number goes, the past two games have gone over, but 3/4 games during the regular season stayed under 6.5 goals, and now 4/7 overall between these teams. The Oilers attack is fearless, and after only putting up 20 SOGs last game, which is the lowest since they beat Vegas in Sin City on April 1st, I think they step things up offensively.
I see Edmonton coming out screaming in order to pick up the slack from last game. However, I trust Adin Hill to keep this competitive, and look for Skinner to have his best postseason performance tonight. It’s gross, it makes my stomach turn, but I think this one stays low scoring tonight.
