Penguins vs. Rangers Game 7 Odds and Predictions: Take New York and the Over

Penguins vs. Rangers Game 7 Odds and Predictions: Take New York and the Over

The New York Rangers host Game 7 of their first round series with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday night.

It all comes down to one game. Two teams are battling to make it into Round 2, and we are treated to yet another matchup between two high powered offenses.

Questions have been raised for Pittsburgh, as a trio of players are listed as day-to-day and may not be able to suit up for Game 7. These players include star forward Sidney Crosby and starting goaltender Tristan Jarry.

Both players are listed as game-time decisions and we will not know what to expect from Pittsburgh until later on Sunday night. Crosby missed Game 6 with concussion issues, and Jarry hasn’t played in the series due to foot injury he sustained at the end of the regular season.

New York has exploited the Penguins in the past two games. They have erased two goal deficits in each, and they have come all the way back from down 3-1 in the series to force a Game 7.

The odds favor the Rangers complete the improbable comeback and win Sunday night. With the Penguins dealing with injuries, New York is keeping their foot on the gas pedal.

Pittsburgh’s Injuries

The Penguins have injuries to deal with, which is going to make it even harder to pull off a Game 7 victory on the road. Sidney Crosby, who has 2 goals and 7 assists in the Round 1 series, is still dealing with a concussion he suffered in Game 5.

Another key piece to the puzzle for Pittsburgh, Tristan Jarry, has not made a start in the series and is still dealing with a foot ailment from the regular season.Their starter posted a 34-18-6 record in the regular season, and he would be a big help if they are going to survive the New York comeback.

The final player dealing with injury for Pittsburgh is Center, Rickard Rakell. He sustained an upper body injury in Game 1 of the series and has not returned. He is listed as day-to-day, but he is going to do everything he can to be on the ice when his team needs it most.

Bet the Over

Every game in this series has gone over the total goal line. There have been no less than 7 combined goals in the previous six games. As the series moves back to Madison Square Garden for Game 7, I expect no less from the two teams.

Both offenses have found another gear. The Rangers have been impressive, erasing two seperate two goal leads by the Penguins in Games 5 and 6 to survive and give themselves a chance to advance.

In the Penguins’ last nine night games against Metropolitan Division opponents, the Over has hit. This is added to the fact that it is a winner take all, and both teams will be fighting for every advantage they can get.

I expect another high scoring game. This isn’t one that the goaltenders are going to want to remember.

Penguins vs. Rangers Game 7 Prediction and Best Bets

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. New York Rangers Prediction: Rangers 5, Penguins 3

Best Bets: Rangers -1.5 (+172 at BetOnline) and Over 6 total goals (-118 at BetUS and -120 at BetOnline)

Another game, another hit on the over. Every game in the series has hit so far, and with this being a must win for both teams, I expect lots of scoring chances and pucks hitting the back of the net.

Pittsburgh is dealing with too many uncertainties heading into Game 7. They have no idea who will be able to play, and it doesn’t look promising for the 2017 champions. The Rangers at -1.5 provides excellent value in their most important game of the season.
