One team is on a three-game losing streak and will look to snap it tonight on the road. The Minnesota Wild will face the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. This is the first time out of three games these two teams will play this year.
New York is 3-3-1 to start the season and still looking for their first home win. They come into this game off a win over the Canadiens on Saturday by a score of 4-3. It was a big win for the Rangers to get them back to .500.
They went down 2-0 pretty quickly in the first period vs the Habs. New York got one in before the first ended and then scored 3 straight goals in the 3rd to take a 4-2 league. Canadiens Noah Dobson scored about halfway into the period to make it a one goal game, but the Rangers took the game.
Goalie Jonathan Quick was in net and saved 21 of the 24 shots he faced. Igor Shesterkin is expected to start tonight vs. Minnesota. He’s 2-2-0 this season with a 1.00 GAA and a .962 save percentage. Great start for Igor.

Minnesota has tough task to snap two-game losing streak tonight

Wild winger Matt Boldy high fives teammates on the bench after scoring a goal.
The Wild are 2-3-1 to start and come into this game on a three-game losing streak. They’re 1-2-1 on the road this season and will be tested on the big stage of MSG. Minnesota is currently last in the Central Division.
Kirill Kaprisov, the league’s highest paid player, is off to a good start with 4 goals and 5 assists. The team has the best power play in the league but will face a tough defense with a solid penalty kill.
Matt Boldy also has the same stats as Kaprisov and looks great. They need to get the offense lit up though as they’ve been missing like last games 2-1 loss. Veteran Vladimir Tarasenko had the lone goal in that game.
Backup goalie Jesper Wallstedt played last game, and Filip Gustavsson is expected to get the start tonight. Gus is 1-3-0 this season with a 3.56 GAA and a .888 save percentage. Let’s check out the odds and get into the Wild vs. Rangers picks.

This is a big game for the Rangers to get this monkey off their back. Coming into this game off a win is huge as they should be hungry playing at home now. I think this is enough for them to hold off Minnesota and get the win.
We’re getting decent value on the moneyline, so we’re taking it for the straight up win. Minnesota has been a bit lost and are on the road. If Shesterkin can keep playing like this and keep is GAA down, the Rangers have every chance to win this game.
I’ll be taking both Matt Boldy and Kirill Kaprisov for 1 point each for probably around -120. This could and very possibly happens on one play. Both have 4 goals and 5 assists each on the year as well.
If Shesterkin’s saves line comes out around 25-27, then we’re going to take the under for odds are plus money. Minnesota can shoot, but New York’s defense has been lock down. Igor has had 22 and 20 saves in his last two games.
